Hello. Before I get involved with calling Orbitz, I have a room booked for a particular resort for a particular set of dates in April. All of a sudden those room rates went sky high during that period. I can't use the room for those dates, and I was going to simply cancel. However, I just discovered that my son and girlfriend might be there around that time period but even the All Stars are close to $200?
Mind blowing, yes.

So, can I transfer the room to him? We have the same last name?Or, if I keep it in my name and add his, can he actually check in without me?

You could add him to the reservation and if he's an adult he can check in. You'll get an additional fee for more than 2 adults in the room.

I don't believe you can transfer reservations. Disney doesn't allow it, so I don't see why Orbitz would.

aaarcher86's idea is good but I would first phone Orbitz and ask. Pitch it to them that they will lose the booking if you can't. They probably can't do it but it's worth a shot.

Not Orbitz but Hotels.com...I once booked a room with DH's name (they only ask for one name), when he was getting in hours after I was. So we contacted hotels.com and put my name on there instead of his, so I could check in. Easy. Since they only require one name for the booking, it worked fine.

Now, that was Disneyland, so there's not all the MDE stuff with magicbands and tickets and whatnot.

I would say no. I currently have two reservations that I made through Orbitz, and in the email I received, it says "<my name> must check into this room".
