Can I trade....

I'm curious about this as well because I seem to recall something about trading when we were there in September last year. The TS restaurants were booked and I think they offered an exchange of some sort, but didn't look into. I wish I had.

Don't plan on it. You also have the option of going to places that don't take ADRs like Beaches & Cream to use those credits. If you are staying Deluxe Room Service is a TS option.

If it were me I'd try to make those ADRs or get another in its place.

The exchange is an Disney option. Disney has implemented two new TS restaurants to help those get ADRs, they didn't do that last year so I doubt they plan to do exchanges. These temporary restaurants are in MK.

Last year, while staying at SSR, they ran a promo on TV about switching your TS to CS meals.

You got to trade 1 TS for 1 CS meal, and as a "bonus" you got your choice of a plain blue lanyard with two Disney trading pins or an extra snack.

We did this with 4 TS and received 4 lanyard/pins sets (we traded all but one set of the pins and still have the plain lanyards... they are royal blue, no design, and have a plastic hook on the end).

I bet Disney will do it again this year... what a savings that is for them, getting DDP holders to switch for cheaper meals and giving only small bonuses to entice.

We simply did it because we ran out of time, and desire to spend even more time in TS restaurants (we did not want to leave the park to go to a resort and eat, and then come back). It was our first trip, it was September, we didn't sign up until May, and ADR's were not available for everywhere (park-wise) that we had planned to be. We figured it was better to get some trading pins and quick CS meals, than to not get anything (and just let the TS credits go).

Watch the resort channel while down there... they very well may be running the promo again! :goodvibes

Last year, we traded some of our TS meals in for CS as well. As kimsuenew said, you got the choice of a pin lanyard or extra snack. The only difference for us is I had read on allears that you could do it before I left. I looked over there just now and I don't see that option listed anywhere. I guess we will have wait and see when free dining starts and hopefully we get some reports!

I'm really hoping they do this. I know we missed one of our adr's 2 years ago, but I can't remember what we did with that TS. We may have just let it go. We made an early res at CP in Mk and overslept.

The best answer I can come up with is "maybe." Unless there is an announced deal like the one previously posted, which was used in the past during free dining, the best you can do is ask at your resort if you can convert the credits.

My point is don't plan on exchanges. Make ADRs, try to make them, have a plan B and let exchange will be your plan C.

I really don't want to read that you went, had free dining, missed ADRs and had to leave TS credits "on the Table". Those threads are always so sad to me and often get heated, usually bashing the OP for not doing X, Y or Z beforehand because all of this info is on DIS. No fun at all to "hear" on the boards.

I hope no one is cranky, you make all those meals and you get full beyond your expectations!

What would your "plan b" be??? Did I say that correctly?..... Anyway, I thought getting into TS restaurants without adr's was next to impossible during free dining? We will try to make all of our adr's, as we tried last time, but you never know when something may come up..:confused3

ITA! Those threads go bad quick.

On a side note, when we exchanged last year, we had 8 TS per person and only had and wanted 6 ADRs, so exchanging for us was not a big deal, we did not not make it to an adr or forget or just not cancel an adr that someone else could use. We just didn't have any to begin with. Since it was "free dining", we didn't care!!

That would be my Plan B. The other thing you could do is call the DINE line while at WDW to see if you can get another ADR. I know we canceled one during FD, just too full for another buffet. We had booked a couple of meals OOP so it didn't impact our credits, just saved us some $.

No worries, for all my concern you'll probably not need to make changes or find that Disney will indeed trade those TS credits for you. Hope you get whatever make your crew happy.

I did call and cancel our adr's when we realized we weren't going to make it.....I just know my family and having to follow a strict schedule is not usually a priority for us. I was just curious what the options were. Thanks for the replies.:thumbsup2
