I guess I want to tip my waitors with Disney Dollars just to aggravate them. You may have noticed when you rent a stroller you need to put an extra dollar in for a deposit, that you get back when you return the stroller.

But, when they give you it back they give you a disney dollar. So I'd like to see how they would like it.

So you take your frustration with Disney out on a poor server who has nothing to do with the policy? Nice, real nice.

That's right, when they start to get Disney Dollars back to them they'll know how I feel. The only reason why Disney has their own currency is just for people to convert their money over and then never use it, which makes a straight profit in Disney's pocket. So make sure you use your Disney Dollars, WDW gets enough of my money.

And you REALLY think the servers have anything to do with it? Why not just use it when you buy a soda or snack or something? Or do you just want to be obnoxious and take your frustration out on somebody who didn't do anything to you? You think the servers made up the policy about giving back the Disney Dollars?

Just remember, what comes around goes around...

I guess we know who got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.

I'm sure if you asked for US currency instead of a Disney $ they would give it to you. I've rented lockers at Typhoon Lagoon before and they wanted to give me a mug instead of my $2 back, but have been able to request my money instad of the mug. They are happy to comply.

Also, I'm sure the servers get Disney $ all the time and have a convenient place they can convert it to US currency.

I am also one who could never understand why people "purchase" Disney $ for their vacations. It is just money that is tied up where it can't be used except at Disney. It's like buying a store gift certificate. It sure won't help in a family emergency!!!

It's the only way to hit them where it really hurt's. The castmembers will complain that some jerk keeps tipping us with disney dollars that say "take that to the bank." Which will drive waitors to quit their jobs and then will create a chain reaction, that will terminate all disney dollars. I will then feel much better.

You're dreaming. They aren't going to terminate Disney Dollars because one person has a bug up his butt about it.

I really hope you are not in Disney the same time I am.... I have a feeling you are not happy with anything. Sorry!!

P.S. I honestly think the waiters would have no problem getting Disney Dollars as tips.... I guess I just don't see the big deal.

I'm so happy when I go to WDW I literally sing the small world song throughout every park. Well we'll have to see how happy the waitors will be at V&A's when I tip them in Disney Dollars.

After they did everything they could for me during my dinner and then their hard work is payed with worthless pieces of paper. I hope I do see kdibattista so I give you a big kiss on the lips. LOL

We are one of those families that buy Disney Dollars regularly. They are exactly what you said, Trapped-Parent, a gift certificate...but for vacation, not a store. I like to put them aside, knowing that I won't be able to spend them on anything else. I buy some each month and by the time vacation comes around I usually have enough for meals, souvenirs and our hotel (when we aren't using our DVC points).

We love Disney Dollars and have no issue with getting them back after stroller/locker rentals. We just spend them the next time we buy something. If you have any left at the end of your trip you can just stop by any Guest Services (park, resort or DTD) and change them back into regular U.S. currency.

I forgot to say that I don't think a server would have any problem getting Disney Dollars as a tip. I"m sure it happens all the time. All they have to do is turn them in for U.S. dollars which, I'm sure, can be done right there at the restaurant. We've often paid for our meals, including the tip, with Disney Dollars. They are the same as cash so you wouldn't be sending a negative message at all.

My problem is not with tipping with DIsney Dollars, but with the OP's intent to annoy the servers because he is upset about something that the servers have no control over. It makes me wonder what else he will do to annoy these hardworking people.

I am sure that giving disney dollars would not offend the wait staff as long as you tip the proper amount. WHy you would want to take out your frustration on an innocent person who probably works very hard for their money is beyond me.

If you are really that upset about the whole disney dollar thing, the only way to protest that or "make them Pay" for doing it is simply deny giving Disney your money by not going period and writing them a letter explaining why.

I have to say that the idea that you would intentionally try to punish someone who has nothing to do with policy at the parks just to make a point seems rediculous to me.

Gee Mike, from what you've written I have a hard time believing that you love Disney......

I agree with ducklite and kdibattista, if you have an axe to grind, you're going about it the wrong way.

Hope you find peace for your tortured soul.

It's not that I have an "axe to grind" or a problem with the whole concept of the disney dollar. It's just the principle.

I give one US dollar for a deposit on a stroller. That same US dollar can be used through out entire country. I then bring my stroller back and recieve a Disney Dollar. A dollar that can only be used in WDW.

My foot is down every waitor is getting their "appropriate" tip in Disney Dollars. This is the only way to get my point across. To upset CM, the ways they upset me. If this is a sign of a upset, tortured soul, unhappy person, so be it.

After they did everything they could for me during my dinner and then their hard work is payed with worthless pieces of paper.

Why would they be worthless pieces of paper? I'm sure they can exchange them for regular cash out of the cash drawer at the restaurant. Most people put it on a room charge or cc, they have to get their money later for those. I don't think they would be aggrivated, defeating your purpose.

Gee Mike, you've really surprised me - I think that's a bit sad that you'd want to take this out on waiters especially when they can convert it anyways at Guest Services if not at the restaurant. Mmmm that wouldn't be making the point you seem to want to make. It seems to me that you just haven't asked for the service that you want, which Disney don't mind you doing, so when they go to give you a Disney Dollar just ask for a normal dollar. I kind of don't think your waiters' would get the message anyway unless you told them why you were doing it. Also why the waiters? It's not like the stores or the restuarants give you change in Disney Dollars.

If you're disgruntled, I wonder, have you sent Disney an official complaint?

Disney Dollars can not be exchanged for real money. Their basically a gift certificate. Once you get or buy one your stuck.

I will be sending my official complaint today. I will win this battle. It's not like I will let this ruin any WDW trip. It's just about the principle.

Disney Dollars can definitely be exchanged for cash. I've done it as recently as December. You just need to go to Guest Services to do it.

Tipping a waiter with Disney Dollars will not get your point across. It will not upset them in the least.
