Can I swap out points used on reservation within 30 days?

Hi,
I have a trip in November at BWV booked at 7 months. I'd like to purchase one-time-use-points to use for this trip but don't know if I can do it since we are within a month of the reservation. The points that are currently used for this reservation are 2024 October UY.

Given what I understand about OTUP, my process would be: make a "holder" reservation with OTUP, that is more than a month out. Then cancel that reservation. Then ask if I can use those points for our upcoming trip, thereby freeing up 24 points for later.

Will I be able to do this?

Since you are within 31 days, any points you replace with OTU will become holding points, which mean they can’t be banked, and will only be available for trips booked 60 days or less,

Now, if you had more time before the trip, what you want to do would work.
