Friends, I'm a 45 year old guy from eastern Kentucky. I now live and work in Northern California. My wife of 4 years took me to DL for the first time ever in 2007. Never been to WDW either.

We are taking our 3rd trip this weekend to DL. We are staying off site (never stayed in park) and this is our second trip without kids.

Can I just say, I thought I had lost my inner kid. Last year, I bawled like a baby at the parades. I cried at the fireworks, and I smiled and laughed and spoke with friends I was yet to meet.

I plan on doing it all again for 3 days with my bride. For 3 days I'm not going to think about work, medicine or the military (my jobs). I'm going to focus on me, my wife and seeing the joy on everyone's faces as they walk around and hopefully they will see the real me also.

We have reservations at Blue Bayou, taking the walk in walts footsteps tour, and have fantasmic dessert reservations for Monday night.

Next year I'll probably take my daughter and my new grandson.

What an amazing place. I cannot wait......I'm literally too excited to sleep!:yay:

If you see a guy in a Kentucky t shirt or Coast Guard t shirt, stop and say hello to us. (If I knew how to post a pic on here, I'd show you how happy I get there)

PS. what is the Disboard Backstage tour??

OP, make sure to get an LGMH (lime green Mickey head paint chip) from Home Depot to display so that DISers will know that you participate on the boards. That is what we all look for. Good luck finding other DISers!

The backstage tour is something that the owner of the board arranged for members who sign up to take a backstage tour at DL. It is on June 20th and you have to sign up and pay through the link provided. I believe it will be done through the Disney Institute. Wish I could go! Don't know if it is full yet.

Anyway, have fun! :)

YEAH for you! have a wonderful time and never let go of that inner child :)

Have a great trip and welcome to the Dis boards!

This made me tear up reading! I know exactly what you mean, though! There is just something so transporting and magical about Disneyland! :goodvibes

I hope you and your wife have such a fun time at the Parks!

Have a wonderful time!!! So jealous til Sept!!

Canyon Girl, please explain the paint chips?

The Home Depot sells Disney paint and some colors are shapped in a mickey head. People who post on the board get these (or make some off the computer) in the lime green color to wear on a bag or backpack at the park. That's how you know there is another Diser there. :)

It sounds great! Have a wonderful trip. And welcome to Northern California!:goodvibes

I definately know what you mean - my DH didnt like theme parks but now he loves Disneyland and im trying to convince him to go back!

I am of the same mould as you i love disneyland to a point its an obsession to me and yes when we left DL to head back to hojos for the final time to catch our schuttle i cried and i didnt want to leave i just wanted to stay at both hojos and DL.

Im not that old (24) but it does continue to make me feel like a kid inside...

Im sure we are not alone on this one

I didn't know that! I just picked up another color sample with my daughter - we taped it to our "Next Disneyland Trip Coffee Can Fund".

I've got to back and get a lime green for our next trip!!! Cool!

Roger,

I think most of us relate. Disney is escapism for most of us - especially during these tough times. Many of us rediscover our inner-child (or never grew-up to begin with.) We appreciate the music, we chat with strangers, we appreciate the design, and the love that the Imagineers and Walt himself put into this magical place. It is a place where the troubles of our "real life" can be set aside for a while.

Have a great trip! If you can, stay on property next time - I think you'll appreciate it.

Best,

Hester

:welcome: to the DIS!!

You are going to have such a wonderful time!

The Backstage Tour is a tour that the Disney Institute is putting on (as said earlier), and for the first time they are going to offer the tour to the public.

The DIS is the first group that gets to participate on this tour. It is $129 per person, and lasts for three hours. :cool1:

What you said was absolutely touching. My husband and I were just in DL last week to celebrate our 10th anniversary without the kids. No one would think it is such a romantic place but it truly is!

Have a great time! The new fireworks show is amazing and it WILL make you cry!

Oh Man, you really know how to make a girl tear up! Have a great time in Disneyland and that same feeling is how I would imagine we all get once we walk through those gates. :) It is all so magical!
Have a great time!

p.s. I need to make my way to Home Depot aswell. I never knew about that. Thanks!
