Can I request the removal of a coffee table?

We are staying in a studio at the BWV in 2 weeks. It will be me, DH, DD (18months) and my sister (adult). Due to the age of my DD, we will have to use the portable crib and my sister will sleep on the fold out couch.

My question is: has anyone ever asked housekeeping to remove the coffee table during their stay? Is this possible? I think it would give us much more room at night.

Yet weren't we told at the annual meeting in 2003 that coffee tables were going to be put in the BWV studios? Sore point with me because in 2005, when there was no coffee table, I remember making a panic call to housekeeping to inform them that the coffee table was gone when I got there, I didn't steal it!

Yes, we were told that. I was at that same meeting. I didn't think it would happen, and it hasn't.

I want one put in, too! Not taken out. When just the two of us stay in a studio, the coffee table would be mighty handy.

I'll believe the HDTVs when I see them. BWV is probably last on the list. And while I'm wishing, I'd like another lamp in the studios - by the couch. I know - dream on. I have to bring my itty bitty book light to read on the couch if DH is sleeping. A real LAMP would sure be better.

Interesting facts! I was wondering why my electric bill seemed higher after getting my new TV (plasma). You would think that info like this would convince Disney to replace outdated sets with new ones (LCD).

LCDs would save 43W whenever turned on. The current electricity rate in the area seems to be about $0.13/KWH. A cost estimate for a commercial grade LCD TV would be $1000.

So for every ~23 hours of actual operation... about 1KWH would be saved... and each LCD TV would save about 13 cents as compared to a conventional TV.

Since people are pretty busy while in WDW... the TV is probably turned on an average of 3 hours/day, or 90 hours/month, or about 1100 hours/year.

Hence... Disney could save about $6.22/year for each $1000 they spent in new TVs. This means that the new TV's would pay for themselves in energy savings in just 160 short years

Somehow I think the decision to replace will not be solely based on current energy costs.

The question is why did they announce at the meeting that they were putting in coffee tables & HDTV's if it was not definite? Just like the free internet announcement at last December's meeting that caused alot of confusion.

Just wondering - Has anyone contacted Member Satisfaction and gotten a response on why the coffee tables were not put in?

Whenever we check into a villa with a coffee table we just move it against a wall and out of the way...usually next to the couch. It frees up a lot of room and doesn't take up too much by moving it next to a wall in a corner.
