We will stay at GF for 5 nights. DW needs a microwave oven to heat baby food. Is it available upon request?

I am not sure if you are able to request one, but incase you can not they do have microwaves at Gasparilla's Grill & Games that you could use.

Thank you CR Resort Fan 4 Life :)

So there is a self-service microwave in the food court? That would be helpful (if we will be assigned to a closer building).

You're welcome and yes Gasparilla's Grill & Games which is the counter service location for the Grand Floridian, does have a microwave. So hopefully you will be in building that is close to there as possible.

Try search the forum - or others may help. Two years ago, we stayed in POFQ and was able to rent microwave from a local company (sorry can't remember the name). They drop off the appliances at Bell services.

1) Microwaves cannot be acquired from WDW for the rooms.
2) They are considered dangerous
. . . people with pacemakers could walk into the room
. . . the microwave could develop a leak from the all the transport
. . . kids can knock it off a counter

Well at least we know what the standard response would be from WDW.

Unless the policy has changed in the last few months, this is not true at all.

We have requested and received a microwave at both the Polynesian and Grand Floridian, and have seen them many times in the hallway outside of guest rooms.

And let's not forget that all DVC rooms and the ASM family suites have microwaves in them. No worries about pacemakers there apparently.

Can you use the microwave after receiving a permanent pacemaker?

Your pacemaker cannot be damaged by using properly operating household appliances, such as microwave ovens, electric blankets and most power tools.

Implanted pacemakers have shields which protect them from common appliances, although those with implanted pacemakers do need to take caution from other items.

Years ago when microwave and pacemaker technology was not so advanced, it may have been a concern.

Thank you for everyone's comments.

We stayed in SSR during earlier this year, and DW thought it is a plus to have a microwave (especially if you have toddlers and infants).

DiznEeyore, when you request a microwave at GF, did you make the request in advance (via CRO), or just ask the front desk upon arrival?

One more question - how busy are the washers/dryers in GF? I heard they have one in each building?
