can i put candles and lighter/matches in checkin bags?

Im assuming they cant go in my carryons?

Im talking birthday candles that will be lit for a minute or 2 - not a candle that i'll leave burning in the room!

cigarette lighters are allowed as carryon now as of august 4. although 'torches' are not.
