We are staying at SSR in December and i know i have to pay the dining plan when we arrive. As we are going for 2 weeks its almost $1200.

Is it possible for me to pre pay this now? Or pay $1200 of credit on to my room before i arrive?

No, you can't. DVC Member Services is not set up to take payment for the dining plan. You'll have to pay it at check-in.

One way to do it is purchase a Disney gift card and add on the amount you are paying for the plan, and then use the gift card to pay for the dining plan when you get there so it won't be all on the balance of your credit card.

Thats a shame - means i'll have a huge credit card bill just before christmas lol!

We are not able to buy Disney Gift Cards as we are in the UK.

Was going to suggest online cards, but I see that won't work for you either, Just save up your money and pay when you check in. They accept not only credit cards, but cash, check, Disney gift cards and Disney Dollars. :)

What about getting one of the pre-paid currency cards to save up the money for the dining plan?

You can add a bit at a time when the exchange rate is good and then you'll have the money at check-in.

You can put the money away in the bank if you wanted to pay for it up front anyway right now. Then you will have the money to pay the credit card bill when it comes after your trip. Or you can pay for it with the cash you saved (or purchase traveler's checks as this is safer to do than carry all that cash) if you don't want to deal with a credit card.

If you don't have the full amount to put away in the bank you can try doing it gradually, dividing it up and putting in a certain amount weekly. Then you will save up the amount before the trip.

Also think of it this way...if the DDP did not exist you would be paying for your meals as you go along, and the credit card bill would be the same. The difference is that the DDP might save you some money as opposed to paying OOP for your meals. That is why DH and I still booked the basic DDP, it saves us money and even though we can't pay for it until check-in, we can save up the money before then...if we set aside the money now (or gradually), it is, in a sense, similar to paying for it up front before going.

Hi Laura

I was going to suggest the same as Elise. Have a look at www.fairfx.com. They always have a slightly better rate than the high street currency exchange shops.

I have also used a fairfx card on our past trips with no problems.

You can make a payment on your credit card at any time. As soon as the dining plan charge hits your credit card, you can make a payment to the credit card company. Of course it's easiest to do this with an online payment. That way if you'll be able to save some room on the card for Christmas charges. ;)

Thanks Elise - i will probably look at getting a fairfx card. I just wanted to pay some off as its a better exchange rate again now!

The problem i have is with my credit card company really. Normally i charge most things to my room and just pay on credit card when i return. However i was told DDP has to be paid on the date i check in which is the 28th.
I phoned my credit card company to see if i charged this amount to my card - would it be due on my December bill and if so when would it be due. They advised i would just catch the December bill and it would be due before the 13th. This is the day i arrive home so i would have no time to pay it. I asked if they could possibly move the payment date by just a few days and explained the situation but she said nope nothing they can do and if i missed the payment i would be charged and all that stuff. Not the most helpful people in the world, but i dont have time to change credit cards or anything before we go so i was just looking for other options.

Thanks for all the options though everyone!

is it possible to pre-pay your credit card in November? I know I've had a credit (positive balance) a few times when overpaying the balance.
Of course it is pprobably more difficult when dealing with exchange rates that may change the actual billed..
