Can a member park at other resorts.
In the past we have stayed at one resort and parked at another.
I have been told that this is no longer allowed.
For example when staying at VWL we drove to BWV and spent some time on the boardwalk.

Yes, you can do this and even use free Valet parking if you want. What you shouldn't do is use this for park parking. They will sometimes give you a 3 hour limit which should be sufficient for most excursions.

We visited in Dec. and parked at both Boardwalk and BCV and had no troule. The guard at the BCV took our name and we showed our member card and said we were eating lunch at Beaches and Cream. We aslo had our VWL paking pass. If this has changed since then I am not aware of it. :earsgirl:

Dean,

Is it not permissible to use valet and visit a park?
I look at the free valet parking at DVC resorts for members as not having any strings attached.
Now pool hopping . . .

Last week we were waved thru every guard stop with out a question or a limit. We had our DVC parking pass on the dash.

It is against the rules to park at a resort with the idea of using that for park parking. Still, there isn't much of an enforcement mechanism at present. If people do it, Valet parking and even parking in general may be taken away.

Reading these boards you learn something new every day. I never thought of parking at another resort to visit a park. If you look at the bright side, it could help alleviate the BWV bussing problem.

We have always liked to visit other resorts to see them, and do their shops and eat in their restaurants and have never had a problem. Sometimes we get a 3 hour pass and sometimes we valet. Depends on what we're doing. If we're eating and shopping, we'll valet, because there is not as much of a limit. If we are just going to look around and shop a little, then we self park with the 3 hour thing. We have never had a security problem. We jsut tell themthe truth, that we want to look around the hotel and do the shops.

I think that parking at the BW is pretty common, since they have the boardwalk there and it is, in itself, a destination.

I would also imagine that there are some people who park at the BW or VWL to go to Epcot/MGM or MK, but what can you do?

"Valet Parking at the Walt Disney World® Resort
Disney Vacation Club Members are not charged for valet parking at Disney's Beach Club Resort, Disney's BoardWalk Resort or Disney's Wilderness Lodge, regardless of where you're staying. You must present your Disney Vacation Club Member card or Walt Disney World Resort ID with your "DVC Member" designation on it when leaving your vehicle to be parked.
Members will be charged the daily fee of $6.00 for this service at any other valet parking operation at the Walt Disney World Resort. Once you've paid for the valet service, you'll receive unlimited valet parking for the remainder of the day. Whether or not you are charged to valet park, gratuities are still appropriate. There will be no charge for guests with disabilities who have the proper permits. "

Where does it say where you can or can't go when using Valet parking?

There are no strings attached to valet parking. There is a rule for not using a resort to access a park unless you are staying there.

Parking at a resort for the purpose of going to a park is not allowed. There is a sign posted at the front of the resorts to this affect.

As with everything else on these boards where rules are involved, adhering to them is self regulated. Those that believe in obeying rules do, those that don't believe, don't. :(

The things you can learn on these boards.

Never seen the sign(s) about this at any of the resorts.
I'll keep my eye out for them.

Not quite convinced that using valet parking for park visits is prohibited.

It is a "perk" with no "official" prohibitions or terms of use that I can see.

Maybe I need a ruling from the umpires ;)

Does anyone think that DVC members using valet parking at DVC resorts to visit parks would be so prevelant as to overwelm a resorts valet parking service?

Valet might be a special situation, I don't know. When you come in the entrance to the Yacht and Beach the sign is right in front of the guard shack. It is a free standing one. It was there the last time we were there late last summer.

It says something to the effect of: Parking at the resorts to access a park is prohibited.

There is a rule that one not staying there cannot park to stay at the parks. There is a rule that says that valet parking is free to members. There is nothing in writing that specifically says one can't valet park for theme park visits. While I guess it's somewhat ambigious, I think it's reasonable to assume the first rule applies accross the board. Still, I doubt there will be much enforcement and that if it becomes a major problem, the valet parking perk will go away or be limited, much like the Pool Hopping issue.

Back in Dec. '02, when we were "supposed" to take our DVC tour (long story...visited an Orlando Pediatric hospital instead!! ). We were told by the CM at Downtown Disney to "plan our tour on the day we wanted to visit Epcot. Then, we could just park our car at BWV, and go into the park from the BC entrance."

I am not saying what she suggested was "allowed". But, interesting that we were told to do that by a CM!! It kind of made us feel like using BWV to park for the purposes of entering Epcot was a DVC member "perk".
