Can I park at Fort Wilderness all day if not staying there?

We will be staying and OKW, and will spend the day at MK, heading to Fort Wilderness for Mickey's Backyard Barbecue in the afternoon.

Would it be possible to drive to Fort Wilderness in the morning and leave our car parked there all day? I've read of cars getting towed from other resorts.

No, you may not leave your car there if you are not staying there and you are not physically there.

However on some days (quite randomly) the parking supervisors might not monitor the lot meticulously.

Drive to Magic Kingdom (Transportation & Ticket Center) to enjoy the park, then drive to Fort Wilderness for the barbecue, then drive to your next destination after the barbecue.

Or, after parking at TTC and enjoying MK, you can take a boat or bus to Fort Wilderness and back. An exception to the universal rule of driving to each destination is that Disney allows you, after being admitted, to leave your car in a theme park lot while you use Disney transportation to go to other Disney venues.

Another exception, valet parking covers the whole day and includes lot hopping, unless stated otherwise by the valet when you arrive on that specific day.

Thank you very much for clearing that up

Is there a time limit to how long you can stay parked at a different resort than the one you are staying at?

Your best bet is to leave your car at MK and take the boat over to FW (there is no bus from MK to FW). The area where the boat dock is at FW is called the Settlement. Mickey's BBQ is in that area (as well as a beach, Trail's End resto, Pioneer Hall/Hoop Dee Doo, etc). If you were to drive to FW, the parking lot is clear across the other end of the campground, at the entrance. You would have to take an internal bus from the parking lot bus depot up to the Settlement area, and back again of course to retrieve your car. FW is huuuge.

The boat dock at MK for the FW boat is directly ahead as you exit MK. Monorail would be on your right, buses to your left, dock straight ahead.

Thank you verymuch for your replies!

I guess we'll just park at MK then :)

You'll actually be parking at TTC, and you'll have to take a boat and a monorail (or ferryboat) back to your car.

If MK is open after your dinner, take the boat to the MK, and the monorail or ferryboat to TTC.

You can also take the boat to CR and the Resort Monorail when they are running. The boat to CR runs until 11:30pm; the closing time of the Resort Monorail varies.
