If you don't enjoy participating, don't (though several of your posts seem to indicate that you, like the rest of us, are having a jolly good time over this). If you do, that's fine, too. But it seems hypocritical to me to simultanously extend the debate while bemoaning its existance.

At Disney World we all subject ourselves to rules to get away from the consequences of rudeness and sloth for a while. I guess you get a kick out of watching all the considerate idiots following the golden rule while you have a field day taking advantage of them all like a chicken in a henhouse.

I can't leave without responding to this remark. Maybe its me but RARELY do I feel like I'm being subjected to rules. I have admitted to trying the little button on the back of the fastpass machine but that is an exception and very rare. I take exception that people following the rules would be classified as "considerate idiots." I follow the rules or behave the way I go because I would hate to think my actions might for one second tarnish the fun of someone else's vacation. That simple!

I didn't check into this thread for anything but the entertainment. I knew where it would lead before I clicked on the title. I purposed to read only but my resolve faltered when I read the quote cited in my first post.

I make no claim to perfection, but neither do I claim this flaw is evidence against the existence of absolutes and their desirability. In my opinion, reconciling this apparent contradiction is one of the great questions we must deny or face, ignore or seek to answer. Which sometimes takes almost as long as finding a parking spot at DD or BW.

It seems like we have agreed all along (your last two sentences seem to be a paraphrase of my first post), but that you were offended by my arrogance and holier-than-thou attitude. I wish that weren't the case, but oh well.

My only apology would be if I made any personal attacks, which I'm always anxious to delete from my posts when pointed out.

Isn't a parking lot just that? A parking lot. If the sign says ( above in red print) then it means parking lot. All the lots are parking lots not just one.

Seems to me some people on these boards are just here to argue there pts weather right or wrong. I guess they would also park in a HANDICAP spot just for spite.

FWIW, we drive to the parks unless we are staying at BWV or BCV and can walk. I PREFER to drive to the parks and park in their parking lots over bus transportation or trying to park somewhere I shouldn't. I do valet at DVC, but only if I am staying there OR have a 3 hr pass because I am eating there.

Also, FWIW, I would never park in a handicap spot. My dad (may he rest is peace) was suffering from heart disease, his Hodgkins came back after 4.5 yrs of being cancer free AND had his leg cut off from diabetes all within a few months of each other. Not to mention I had a 12 yr nephew who died of brain cancer. I would NEVER, EVER park in a handicap spot because I saw how they'd struggle. And personally whether you were referring to me or not that was a really rude thing to say.

pbharris4-- sorry you took this as a post about you ,which it wasn't I was agreeing with you about parking and that the sign meant all parking lots.
I did edit my post to say (in general) so that it is meant for those who do this things. There are a couple of posters on this thread who would most likely park in a HZone.

Paults..I actually should have asked you who you were referring to and I apologize for that. With just words typed on a screen it's really hard to determine how to take things as opposed to seeing facial expressions..so it should be asked and I didn't do that so I am sorry.

I usually don't post in heated discussions because I just don't really like to get involved. I come to the DIS for planning our vacations and for pleasant discussions. What people do is there own business and if they do the wrong thing then they have to deal with it. It kind of makes me afraid to ask ANY questions for fear that I'll be jumped on for it or it will become a great debate. Sometimes a question is only a question and like I said I get tired of the heated discussions. I should just skip over them from now on.

I would hope no one would ever park in a handicap spot for spite or any other reason unless they are handicap. There were many times I struggled to get my dad into his wheel chair because we were squished between 2 cars because the handicap spots were taken by someone with no temporary tag or handicap license plate (not at WDW). It's hard for man to feel helpless and the harder the struggle the worse they feel.

Don't park in a handicap space if you are not entitled when I'm around. Because of personnel experience (my MIL needed handicap parking) and many minutes on my cell phone I will report them to the police. I'm amazed how often and fast they will show up to issue a ticket. I happened to mention this to a policeman once and he said it's the easiest large fine to collect and it helps the handicap. He also told me about someone he wrote a ticket on who came out of the store and tried to talk him out of it. He told him he is obviously handicapped between the ears and would be more than happy to explain what the ticket is for.

OT but if you use IE, install the Google toolbar -- it includes a spell checker that works great with the DIS boards. You click on the "Check" button on the toolbar and it spell checks the text in any input boxes in your IE window.

I am sure some leniency is granted to those with a legitimate reason for being there to eat, shop. However when you have cars park at the Polynesian as early as 8am and stay till past 9pm they are not dining.

In that case they should just cut the valve stems off: Just kidding, towing cars is risky at best, and usually ends up costing the merchant more than the cars owner. Even though the threat of towing works well, the boot works much better as long as there is a service fee and they take their time getting it removed. The benefit is if you mistakenly boot someone you can apologize give them a drink or snack while you quickly get it removed. So they can be on their way.

I did ( emailed actually) you can park if you are a registered guest or visiting the hotel for dining shopping etc. You should not park at any resort while you go to one of the parks.
