Reading the web page make sure you don't leave a lottery ticket in your purse!

I would be very careful what you take in with you. You do have to declare food stuffs on a customs form and your case will be scanned for food.

On the plane they come round and take fruit off you just before you land.

Personally I never take any sort of food stuff into the country. There are plenty of supermarkets in the resort areas where you can buy stuff so unless you are on a special diet I wouldn't bother.

To be honest, is it worth the time, effort and worry, just head for a Walmart when you get there, it'll be cheaper and less hassle.

I agree with Ralphy and more choice. When we went with our family in 2002 MIL took beans, 2 heinz, 2 safeways own, they confiscated the heinz beans but left the safeway ones!!! Marmite :confused3 DW always takes some and never uses it and then tries to talk me into bringing it home! No way uses valuable space in the case!

Plenty of people do seem to take things like tea bags and cereal. I think it's OK as long as they're still sealed and I would pack them in your case, rather than your hand luggage.

However, as others have said: is it really worth the risk? If you do take them then you should declare them and that's bound to cause some kind of delay. Publix have an 'ethnic foods' section which stock things like Heinz baked beans, PG tips, etc., if you really can't live without them for a couple of weeks. And the supermarkets have entire aisles dedicated to breakfast goods - cereals, cereal bars, pop tarts (in every imaginable variety, and several unimaginable ones too!)...

To be fair their teabags are pants, but hey its two weeks, try something different.

Now if your really really in need of british supplys, there the brit shop in Old Town, Kissimmee.

www.old-town.com

I sure if there are more it will be posted.

Brit supplies are not cheap, the only thing I would takt is tea bags if you want a good cup of tea,

There is one thing they do not do very well and that is Gravy.

My little lad won't touch anything apart from Bisto, so we take 2 jars with us.
Just thankful that he now likes the crisps (potato chips) available, we used to take about 30 packets of Worcester Sauce flavour with us.

The Union Jack shop at Old Town is brilliant, but we would only use in an emergency I think.

:rotfl: yeh Tea bags are def. not as good as here. As I don't drink coffee and won't be taking anything else think I will squeeze in some tea bags :)

Love the new picture, Cath - your boys are very cute!

We found that King's Supermarket on I-Drive (not far from Mercado on the opposite side of the road) had quite a selection of Brit's favourites! Here are a few that I can remember seeing:

Tetley Teabags, Jacobs Cream Crackers, Philadelphia Cheese, various sweets incl. Mars, various biscuits incl. Rich Tea.

Maybe not as cheap as home, but definately saves the hastle of declaring foodstuffs and worrying about them ruining your clothes inside your case!

I went in this supermarket twice and the staff were horrible. Once I cashed a travellor's cheque which he didn't really want to cash, then he threw the money at me.

The second time, we bought water, got to the checkout and realised one had been drunk from, the woman on the checkout wasn't impressed that I wanted to change it. Took it back, saw the man I had seen before explained about the water, I didn't want to put it back for someone else to pick up so gave it to him. He just snatched it from my hand, didn't say a word and just flung it across to the store room door.

Horrible place, never going in it again. I got the impression that they hated us.
