Can I make ADRs in hopes of free dining?

If there is free dining we are going. Can I go ahead and make the ADRs and then cancel if we're not going or call back and add that we are on the free DDP and our resort info if it is? I don't want to miss getting everything we want. Thanks!

Yes. Keep in mind that if you don't plan on following through, you might be taking spots from people who are. But if you are pretty sure you are going.

And you don't have to tell anyone your ddp is "free." But it might be good to let them know when you have a resort and that you are on the ddp.

Absolutely you can. We made a few that we'll be cancelling if there's no free dining, and we don't have a resort reservation booked yet. When asked if we were on a dining plan, we just said no. If/when we book for free dining, we'll call back and update our reservations to include resort name, etc.

I wouldn't worry too much about taking a spot from someone else, as long as you cancel at least a month in advance. People are always making and changing ADR's, and I'm sure I'll make someone very happy if I have to cancel my Le Cellier and Chef Mickey's ADR's. Someone other than me, that is.

Making ADRs is totally independent of resort reservations, type of reservations, and even whether or not you are staying on-property. Someone who lives in Orlando and wants dinner at a Disney restaurant can make an ADR. People passing through on their way from Miami to Tampa are free to make an ADR and stop for dinner at WDW.

So if you already have ADRs before you book the dining plan, you won't need to make ANY changes to your ADRs or call anyone or do ANYTHING, just show up for those ADRs!
