I just can't decide between the Wilderness Lodge standard view room (closer to MK and better transportation) OR the Royal Room Garden View at Port Orlean's Riverside (nicer quieter view, and about $1000 cheaper). I go back and forth with this decision every day. I am doing the free dining package offer this November, and the rooms associated with this offer are going fast. Right now I have the WL booked, but keep thinking that by November I will wish I had booked PO Riverside for the savings and nicer view. I know that if I cancel before 45 days of my arrival, I will get my $200 refunded. I don't mind paying an additional deposit now. Then in late September, I can make my final decision and cancel one of the rooms. That way I will get my deposit back. Is that allowed? I know if I waited until September to change my mind and want to book POR, it would no longer be available with the free dining. That is why I would love to go ahead and book it too, and then just cancel the resort reservation I decide not to use at least 45 days in advance. Thanks for your advice.

I don't believe you can hold 2 reservations at the same time if the occupants listed are the same. You can do this if the lead guest in each room is different. (At least I'm pretty sure this is right).

I thought I read somewhere here on the DIS that you can make a reservation online while you already have a reservation via phone. And this is when they used the same name on the reservation and I am quite sure it was for the same date. I am sure someone will correct me if what I have read is incorrect.

I have done it in the past. It has been a few years, so the policy may have changed. But I can confirm they were able to do it for me in 2010.

I tried booking two different room types at WL for next summer but the CM told me that I could only book one.

I was thinking of doing the same but for different reasons and was told by a CM I couldnt as making a 2nd reservation may automatically cancel the first one, so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it all works out in the end. GL!! :)

I would just make up my mind. I think of it this way. If you book two rooms with free dining, you will be taking one out of circulation that you have no intention of using. Someone else might have wanted the room you ultimately cancel, but couldn't get it because it was taken.
