Can I machine wash a Build-a-bear

I wouldn't put the beloved koala in the dryer - just a wash to clean him up.

We put ours in the washer a few times already. Put him in a pillowcase and just tie the top in a knot (better yet, use a zippered pillow case!) and wash with cold water.

We have washed ours a number of times... we put them in a pillowcase and a hair tie to keep it closed!

We have also put them in the dryer on low heat. They seem to wash very well thankgoodness!

ot but does anyone know if the will repair them at the store.. my sons got a shrek one for christmas and the back is already split open. I have never had that happen before.

Yes, they can go in the washer and yes, they will repair them at the store. Just take them in!

How do I clean my bear?
If your bear needs a spot cleaning, we offer a Bear Stuff® cleaner available in-store or on our website that you spray on and wipe with a clean cloth, air dry and then brush the cleaned area.

If your bear needs more than a spot cleaning, and does NOT contain a sound inside and is not battery operated you can place the bear inside a pillow case and knot the case closed, machine wash on gentle cycle in cold water with mild soap and let the bear air dry. If your bear does contain a sound inside you can go to a Build-A-Bear Workshop store to have the sound removed before washing.

When my 9 year old was younger, she would taker her "Teddy" EVERYWHERE and it got pretty filthy! I'd undo the stitching in the back unstuff it and then scrub it up. Unstuffing it first helped the stuffing from getting lumpy in the washer and dryer. We have also taken Teddy to the store a few times to have some stuffing added when the stuffing starts to get smushed up from so many hugs! I often take a brush and fluff up the fur a little again after his "bath".
