Hi.
Im so excited about my AP king size bed rate for Jan 30.

Just wanted to hear all the good stuff about FQ.
Good room locations and any other tips?
I wish there was a FAQ thread for it.

Thanks in advance:Pinkbounc

Well, we love the place! My daughter and I always ask for a room as far AWAY as possible from the main bldg. We like the little walk and the chance to explore the resort. We had always stayed at Riverside before and when we "had" to stay at FQ for the first time, it became our new favorite.

What specifically do you want to know?

We just got back last week. For a moderate...We LOVE FRENCH QUARTER. Stayed 9 days in Building 5. Our favorite. The staff was great. The service excellent. So much to enjoy about Port Orleans! While we like the overall style and effect of the Mansions at Riverside best, we like the smaller size and better convienence of the bus situation at French Quarter best. So we visit both. Three times at French Quarter, three times at Riverside, so far.

Our Mousekeeper made towel critters and decorations everyday! Our room was clean as a whistle but the carpets are showing their age (stains here and there). But I have even seen that at Yacht Club as well. Remember that the food court, while good, is much smaller than Riverside. Crowded almost never.

Be sure to make the short walk down to Riverside one evening (Wed.-Sat usually) to see Bob Jackson play his mayhem in the lounge! Great for kids too! And then there is the boat ride to DTD. Etc., etc.

The second half of our stay was spent at the POFQ. After staying the 1st 4 nights in Poly concierge we were a little spoiled but the FQ was nice. We also were in building 5 which I thought was a perfect location. My cousin and her family stayed at Riverside so we were able to explore both resorts and we all agreed FQ won hands down.

We were there Oct. 6-8. It was our first time staying at a moderate (since we have a family of 5 we usually stay at a deluxe or 2 rooms at AS). This trip the whole family couldn't go so we stayed at POFQ for 2 nights and POR for 2 nights. I absolutely LOVED POFQ! I would stay there again in a heartbeat. We were in Building 5 - great location. The pool was great, hot tub was very nice, everything was very convenient. The food court was wonderful - especially the beignets and the pralines! The whole resort is charming - you will love it!

Just got back, and LOVED it!

We had a garden view room in building 3, which is very convenient to everything! We loved the food court, which was remodeled last winter. They had a great selection and the Castmembers there were very friendly and accomodating. All of the cast in the shop and front desk were great, as well.

You have to try the pizza...it was really good, and we enjoyed eating it while watching Toy Story II on the big screen TV in the food court. Oh, and don't forget the Bagneits...ooh la la!!!

The transportation was great, never having to wait more than 10 minutes for a bus. In the morning and at night, the bus only services PO-FQ but later in the morning and the afternoon, PO-FQ is the 1st pickup, and 1st to be let off, but you will stop at the other 4 stops in Riverside, so just count on it taking you a bit longer to get to your destination then.

We loved the boat shuttle between Riverside and Po-FQ, which runs from 9 am until 9:30pm everyday. It makes pool hopping and using the full service restaurant very easy.

The pool was really nice, and DD loved the serpent slide. She would have spent all day there is we had let her. The playground is nice, as well. The laundry facilities were neat and clean, and it was $2 per 30 minute wash, and $2 per 30 minute dry cycle. The pool bar, as well as the inside bar were nice, as well, but they do allow smoking in the inside bar, and it can get quite smelly in there.

Our rooms were really nice, and my mom kept swearing those rooms were bigger than those at the Wilderness Lodge. I kept assuring her they weren't, it was just that the furniture at WL was larger. The PO-Fq rooms did seem bigger, though, I must confess, and were more comfortable. We had great maid service, and our room was always neat and clean. Most of the time, it was cleaned around 3 pm, so if you come back at 1 pm and expect it to be clean, it probably won't....if you would like it that way, you need to let housekeeping know, but it is not guaranteed. We did get cute washrag animals, and DD's toys were arranged nicely each day.

We have no complaints at all about PO-Fq, and would recommend it to anyone!

Everyone else has just about covered it. This will be our 9th or 10th trip. Last year we were in Riverside because of the closure of POFQ.

The only thing people didn't mention were the gift shops. The one at Riverside is larger and has more selection. But, the one at FQ still has quite a bit. Both have a section where you can buy pop, beer, chips and milk. Basics. FQ also has a nice arcade/gameroom. It is smaller than Riverside but very adequate.

If you want to rent boats or bikes you will need to go down to Riverside to do that. But, like others said you can catch the boat shuttle or the walk is very nice and relaxing...goes right along the river.

FQ is our favorite resort. Can't wait to be there in 30 days. Any other questions?

I'll be there tomorrow night. POFQ has always been our favorite Moderate.

Thank you all for the info.
We stayed at AKL and were spoiled, but I think we will love POFQ just as much!
It all sounds wonderful!

I love these boards and have become addicted to Disney after one visit!

It took me 36 years to get there and I'm going back again within 5 months:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We will be anxiously waiting to hear how your stay goes at the POFQ:bounce:

We will be there in 30 days ... but who is counting .... ME!!!!!!!

We have always stayed at Deluxe resorts, this time we are trying French Quarter. Thanks to this board, I am very excited about staying at FQ and so is my family.

When taking the boat to DD, what stops does it make? Just wondering about dining options,

Thanks
