Of Yachtsman's Steakhouse please!:)

We are going to WDW in May and I have always wanted to try this place. It will be my hubby, my Dad and I and we are all HUGE steak lovers and AGED steak lovers if we can get it.

Any experiences will be much appreciated.:flower3:

We LOVE YS and have never had a bad meal there. On our last trip DH & I shared the chateaubriand for 2 and it was heavenly (he still talks about it to this day).

The tomato salad there is amazing as well....Give it a try, you'll love it :)

So glad to hear a nice review!! My Boyfriend and I will be eating here the 1st time in May also and we can't wait to have a nice steak!! :)

I saw mixed reviews on Yachtsman Steakhouse but decided to give it a try. The food, service...everything was great. I'd say...Go give it a try, just once and I think you will probably like it too.

Thanks for the reviews guys.....looking forward to many more!!:)

I see so many mixed reviews lately. We went one time about 3 years ago. Our experience was good-both food and service. Even my picky MIL enjoyed the meal. It is pricy though, and if I recall, vegetables are all a la carte. I wonder if that provokes some of the negative response. People pay top $$ and then feel nickle and dimed.

We ate there in December and had an absolutely outstanding meal. Steaks, service, wine, atmosphere -- all delightful.

ANY restaurant, and especially any restaurant at WDW, will get mixed reviews -- there is simply not one universal standard (of experience, of taste, of expectations). The best bet is to go with what interests you and develop your own opinions. Have a great trip!

My meal at Yachtsman's was very, very good.

The beef is over very good quality--I recommend the strip steak, although I see they no longer offer it with the Maytag Blue Cheese sauce. :guilty: I have also read some good reviews of their Chateaubriand as well.

Their sorbet and gelato are very very good.. and they do have some nice mixed drinks if that's you preference.

We ate there in december with a large group of people and I was surprised by how good the food was. I had the seared maine diver scallops as an appetizer and they were perfect. None of that "funky" iodiney taste that scallops sometimes have and they weren't overcooked and rubbery either. Just perfectly cooked, perfectly fresh, perfect accompaniments. DH had the ahi tuna tartare and really liked it. We shared the chateaubriand for two and it was SOOO good. The best meal I've had anywhere in disney in a long time. It shocked me how good it was. The big disappointment is that we always take our leftovers "home" since we stay in DVC resorts but it was our last night so we couldn't. We were in such a big group I did way more talking than eating and the portions are so large that I ended up leaving about 3/4 of my meal. :sad2: We have a last minute trip planned to go to WDW in about a month and I booked yachtsman for one of our first nights there with plenty of time to bring leftovers back to the room before evening plans.

We never did get to dessert there either but I look forward to trying those as well. I was expecting a decent meal there but on our last trip it was the clear winner over everything else (including CA Grill).

From my 3 experiences at YSH I would say there is no good, bad, or ugly...only AMAZING! :thumbsup2

We've had a mixed feel for the Yachtsman. We ate their for our 10th anniversay (wow - 7 years ago now) and it was absolutely fantastic. Amazing server, great table, wonderful meal. So memorable we decided to go back for our 15th. However, this time we took another couple with us (who were also celebrating their 15th). Unfortunately, the 2nd time around was not as charming.

I think much of it surrounded the fact that the other couple just couldn't fathom spending that much for a meal. The wife ordered just a salad for dinner then just fawned over my DH steak, which he then proceeded to share with her since she kept saying how good it looked. We were seated at a table in the middle of the restaurant, which wasn't very "romantic", our server felt rushed and we felt hurried. I was extremely disappointed in our "2nd" visit.

I would not hesitate to try this restaraunt again, tho, based on our 1st experience. I would go back again as just as "couple", and plan to be pleasantly surprised. Do try it - our 1st experience was magical and I just think the 2nd experience was bad vibes. The couple that went with us, the DH also went to the buffet for dinner at the Biergarten and asked if he couldn't just order a bratwurst outside and bring it in. To each his own, and I reserve the right to not dine with them again, tee hee!

DH and I ate at the Yachtsman two years ago and we had the chateaubriand for 2...it was the best I have ever eaten! You will definitely not regret eating here! :hippie:

We ate at YS three times on previous trips and the meals have all been excellent- from start to finish. I would definately recommend it. The service has varied from excellent to okay. Our meals and experience have been much better than ours at LeCellier (we had a HORRIBLE experience there). I'm hoping we just hit it on a poor night which was probably the case considering all the constant raves on these boards and after skipping it this past trip we are going to try it again this October.

I love to hear all of these great reviews! My DH & I are trying this restaurant very soon (as in 10 days). Our boys are staying in the Cubs Den that night. :thumbsup2 We love Chateaubriand and will probably be ordering that for our main portion of our meal. Yum!

We had a bad experience there and put the restaurant in the penalty box where it will remain for some time..

Table was dirty when we were seated, we spoke to the hostess who looked at us like we had 10 heads... and said sorry. The steak was not good, if you are going to say that you are a steakhouse, you need to make sure your steak is the quality of let's say a Shula's... Our waiter was attentive, but since this table was his he should have made sure it was cleaned before we were seated. We were sitting there rather disappointed in the quality and spoke to someone who was setting other tables. She took one look at our table and our food and was apologetic and sent over the Manager. He said he was sorry and I believe he did not charge my husband for his steak, he also wanted to send over dessert, but at the point, we did not want anything else to eat. I will say that the Manager did try to take care of the issues we experienced during our first visit to the Yachtsmen.....he also was going to spend some time retraining the hostess who sat us but did not want to take care of the dirty table...and just said sorry. I will give him credit for handling the bad experience appropriately.

My thoughts are this when a restaurant is hit or miss as Alfredo's has been in the past, that is not the reputation that a good restaurant wants. You have to be consistent in your service and your food preparation to get a good rating.....occasionally mishaps will happen, but overall, you have to be consistent.
