Can I have 2 reservations at one time?

I am having such a hard time planning this trip( taking extended family). My mom may have to change her dates. Can I have 2 reservations for the 3 days that are up in the air? Or would one cancel the other out? I would cancel one in a few weeks when things are settled.

My understanding is that you can only have one reservation at a time for the same dates in your name. However you can book the second reservation under your mothers name or spouses name if that applies.

Disney had to do this after some people would have multiple reservations at multiple resorts. They would cancel at day 46 all the ones they decided they didn't want anymore. They would also do it in anticipation of discounts that would come out throughout the year.

Now you cannot have multiple reservations in the same name for the same week at different resorts.

I had overlapping reservations booked at POP and the Contemporary for a while, until getting my travel plans finalized. Different arrival dates, but same departure date. I was the only adult on either reservation and I booked both direct through Disney, online, using the same login information.
Edited to add: these were both room-only bookings.

I booked 6 nights at POR for last Dec. A solo trip. Then DD and family decided to go at the same time, so I booked a room at POP for the same time because that is all their budget would allow and I wanted my own room but at the same resort. But, I never cancelled POR because they were afraid they might have to cancel. As it turned out they were not able to go so I called and cancelled the POP reservation. I had double reservations for at least 4 to 6 weeks and never heard a peep from Disney. The CM wasn't fazed at all with what I had done.

So, yes, you can have two reservations at once. (I assume you are talking about resorts, not dining.)

Yep you can have two room only reservations holding. Just remember that the first night is charged through and to remember your last date to cancel without penalty.

I have had two overlapping reservations (packages/military) twice and never had an issue. The most recent (while finalizing some flights, etc.) was about two weeks ago

I had two reservations at the same time ( both packages )

My mom was the lead in a room/package for POR and when the summer discount came out I booked another package in her name for POR. I did this online when I could not get through on the phones.

Then when I could finally get through on the phone to a CM I had her removed from the room she was the lead in ( and made me the lead )

The CM didn't even quetion it..
