Can I go 8 days without laundry?

I do laundry on a 5 day trip. But for me it is easy since we stay ina 1bdr villa and have a washer and dryer in the room

We've gone for 9 days to two weeks and I never had the need to do laundry. (There are 5 of us.) I've brought little packets of detergent and clothespins to hand wash something in case of a potty accident or ice cream incident, but I've never had to use those either. We always come home with at least one small bag of clothes that haven't been worn.

We drive, so I don't have to worry about how much luggage we have, but I don't think taking enough clothes is too much. Each kid has one small suitcase, DH & I share one regular sized one, and we have a duffel bag that I pack a hoodie and a pair of jeans for each person just in case we get chilly (but those could just be worn for traveling clothes). We bring one outfit per day plus one or two and also several extra shirts.

This will actually be our first trip coming up where we have our own laundry machines. Our past trips have mostly been 9 nights and we did not do laundry. It is a pain to have that much dirty clothes, though! To me rewearing jeans or shorts is not a problem sometimes. Also, we like to buy shirts there so I don't necessarily over pack. We would just go from suitcases full of clean clothes to suitcases full of bags with dirty clothes. I'm looking forward to this trip for sure!

We pack enough clothes for 1/2 of our trip. Mid-way through the trip, we take a morning (or whole day) off. While dh does laundry, I spend the time with the kids in the pool (he would rather do the laundry). This is always the day the kids remember the most about the trip. Last time we stayed at POP and swam until noon and then headed out to the parks. This trip, we have nothing planned for that day until our 4:00 ADR at CRT.

Thanks for all the replies! Hmm, well I could just wear the same thing the whole trip and not pack any clothes at all..LOL I do sometimes wear again a jeans or shorts but I imagine I will be hot and sweaty and not that wanting to get back into something funky. I also get double duty of my t's by wearing them as a night shirt.

To the person who said they go with kids for 2 weeks and each kid has a small suitcase and packs clothes for the trip. How do you pack it? I can't imagine fitting 14pr shorts, 14 t-shirts, 14 undies and socks, 14 pj's and a couple jeans. I wouldnt even be able to fit that into our large suitcase!!

I still don't know what to do.. I am not totally averse but I have never done it before and would "rather not". However we are planning to take our time , I have several medical problems and not a ton of stamina so it may just be a blessing in disguise :)

Another Q- I am CDN and got USD but don't want to bring a ton of quarters. is there a change machine or do they take singles? Thanks

I am excited to go 8 days and NOT do any laundry!!:lmao:

I am not worried about running out. If the weather is fit, we shall be wearing mostly capris and short sleeves. etc. Coming back to Iowa on Nov 28, don't have to worry about getting those washed right away to wear again....sigh.

Yes they have change machines on the walls.

We spent 11 days in Disney and did laundry twice. The first time we did it at night while the boys slept the second time we did it in the afternoon while hanging out at the pool. For us it's completely necessary as we don't have 12 outfits to pack...that is far too much clothing! We normally do laundry every other night at home so doing it twice in 12 days was a stretch for us.

I pack an outfit (shirt/shorts or sundress) for each day in a ziplock bag (mostly the gallon size, but some fit in the quart size). I tossed in all the little bags and then packed separate bags for socks and undies. (Some people put the socks and undies with each outfit, but that doesn't work for us. My kids change their undies at night when they take a bath/shower and they often didn't want to wear the socks if they were wearing crocs that day.) We also only brought three lightweight pairs of pjs, not a new one for each night. (I have read some people who let their kids sleep in the outfit they're going to wear the next day.) For extra clothes, (depending on the kid) I put one pair of jeans, one or two pairs of shorts, and a few (maybe 3) tshirts or tank tops in the suitcase. These I don't put in ziplock bags, I just roll or fold them.

My son's bag was pretty stuffed, but since the girls mostly had light sundresses there was extra room in their bags to stick shoes and other things we needed.

We have never re-worn anything (except DH who will only bring 4 pairs of shorts) and we always come home with extra clothes.

I'm not trying to convince anyone that they shouldn't do laundry. I understand the reasons people do and I'm sure it doesn't take a huge amount of time. I just think it's optional.

We have always done at least one load at WDW. I pack a mesh bag for dirty clothes and recently tried those Purex three in one sheets but found they leave stains on my clothes. This time we are going to be 4 days 3 nights at WDW and 3 days on the Wonder. I really don't want to be washing clothes on the ship so I will have to make some time early on the morning of our checkout at POP.

Since we are going in November I am packing both hot and cold options for atleast 3 of our 7 days. I hear the nights can get pretty cold at WDW so I will be carrying a bag with sweat shirts and a blanket in it. I have a few dressy options for the ship but my DH is content with wearing one or two pairs of jeans. Shoe wise we are in crocs or sandals so I don't have to worry about that. My oldest takes her own suitcase and my youngest's clothes get packed in with mine.

The only thing I forget is to leave room for souvies plus we have a FE exchange I need to leave room for.

The first year we went we didn't do laundry. Last year we had one too many insane blow out poops from our youngest and ended up doing laundry 2x. My DH went down when we got back to the hotel, then switched them about an hour later, then collected them before we went to sleep. It wasn't a huge deal, we just stayed up a little later than we otherwise would have.

I'm not PLANNING on it this time, but if we need to, I know it's not a big deal.

The ziplock bag trick REALLY helps get more clothes in each suitcase. Last year I packed the kids in one med. suitcase -- all 3 of them, 6 night trip, including 2 princess dresses & some pettiskirts and pjs for each night.

I refuse to do laundry on vacation. NOT my idea of a good time. We are going to be away from home a total of 8 days this year, and i will just pack enough stuff for everyone to make it 8 days and wash when I get home. I am NOT doing housework on vacation!!!

I was always one of those people that refused to do laundry on vacation and thought people were nuts who did. ;) Then, last August trip, we were there for 9 days in the oppressive heat and neither me nor my husband really have enough hot weather clothes (since we don't usually need them) to get us through the long of a trip in that weather. So, I scheduled in laundry time.

And it was WONDERFUL! :lmao: Left the husband in charge of child entertainment, and went and sat at the quiet pool for an hour alone, reading a book uninterrupted, and enjoying the silence and no one hanging on my body or asking me for something. :)

Now, I plan laundry for most trips and packing is so, so, so much less stressful. I just throw everything I feel like packing and carrying in the suitcase and know that I can do laundry when we get there. We stayed at a villa on our last trip and we only packed a couple outfits each and did several loads of laundry and came home with NO dirty clothes. It was great.

I do laundry.

Much easier to take 1 medium suitcase & one small one for my family then it is to take one for each of us.

Last trip we were a family of 5 so I did laundry every day.

We take a mid-day break so I throw the load in when we get back to the resort & it is done by the time we are ready to go back.

We always go to Disney for a week and I usually do 2 loads of laundry while we are there. Usually on day 4 I take 2 loads (1 light, 1 dark) and wash them while DH has the kids in the pool. It only takes about an hour or so and since I do it while the kids are swimming we don't feel like we are missing any park time. The kids are happy to swim and I am happy to have less wash to do when we return home.

another Chicago area family - with the same experience!! LOL now dh wants to know if I'm sure I want to do laundry - he'd gladly do it!! LOL - no that's ok!!

plus giving the kids a "break" from the parks and some "fun" down time at the resort - in the pool or arcade is a nice treat as well we've found for us it works...

I bought a small collapsable laundry basket from Walgreens - pop it up put it in the closet, fill it up - the pocket I put laundry detergent/ but like a PP said now they have these sheets that go from laundry to fabric softener dryer sheets - all in one!! perfect!

We drive and I do laundry. We are usually gone about 10 days. I don't mind doing it. Like others, the kids are in the pool. I make them get out when I go in the laundry room unless DP is at the pool with us. Laundry on vacation seems so much easier than at home. Everything is done at once and there is a finite amount of clothes. At home I swear I can do 7 loads and then during the night gnomes come in and throw another 7 loads on the basement floor.:rotfl:

I also like having all the summer stuff clean and ready to be packed away when we get home.

We also always do laundry - we also now only bring carry on luggage.

My kids don't have enough clothes for a week, plus it would fill a big suitcase, and my son always seems to get dirty!

Even when I went alone with my kids to the AKL when they were 4 and 6, they enjoyed the "helping" with putting the laundry in, then we hung out at the pool while it washed. It was very convenient.

I love it when we have a machine in the condo, like the times we stayed at the BWV - every night we'd just pop our dirty things in the wash, so everything was nice and fresh. Kept the place tidy too.

But, I am a bit anal, like to keep even a hotel room very neat and tidy. So if the laundry bag gets filled, I like to wash the clothes.

On our last Dec trip I did laundry 3 times for a 6 night trip. Had to wash swimsuits, underwear, fav shirts, jeans, etc. I do laundry almost daily at home so I did get a fews day break :P. I would throw in a load while DS was sleeping. I am neurotic about clean clothes so I'm atypical. I did the last load the night before we left because I was mailing the clothes home to make room in our bags for souveniers. Another reason to stay at BLT this May - in room laundry, especially when washing for 4 instead of just 2. So I can throw in a load before heading out for the day and dry during mid-day break.

We are going for 7 nights and there is no way I'm doing laundry at WDW

Well, that being said I will bring laundry supplies for a couple loads "just in case", but I will pack enough that barring disaster I will not have to use them. I am hoping that I will be much too busy having fun to worry about clean clothes
