Can I give extra Magic Bands to friends?

I have two sets of Magic Bands for each family member. Received each sets for separate trips to a Disney resort. Both sets have our names printed on the band. If I give one set to friends who are going in December but staying offsite, can they create a MDE account and link the bands to their tickets? Or are the bands automatically linked to my account and my tickets? Would love to save them a few $s, but worried they'll still be linked to my account and use up my remaining non-expiration ticket days. And, is against the rules to give away the bands?

If its through a resort stay, then it's already linked to the MDE of the person staying in that room. So, unfortunately it won't work for anyone else except as a large, ugly bracelet!

Also, awhile back on this board, someone was talking about being locked out of their FP and MDE account for letting someone else enter the park with their MB's.

however with the advancement of magic band 2.0 you can share bands just make sure each person keeps their own puck linked to their account, so if you have a limited release or edition magic band simply swap pucks and a friend can use your band!

Doesn't really help in OP's situation.
They wanted to save their friends some money.
Although their friends really don't need bands at all as tickets work the same way.

Thanks for the replies and advice! The use of Magic Bands is so ubiquitous now, I forgot they could just link Fast Passes to a hard ticket.

But would that do any one any good if they don't have a puck to go in the band?

Our OP still has active tickets on their account, so what I'm about to ask doesn't apply. But just in the name of science . . . . .

I think the friends could link their tickets to wdwphile's MyDEx account, make all their FP reservations through the account, and use the bands as if they were wdwphile's family, could they not? If all the existing tickets had been consumed, there would no longer be a finger scan associated with the account, so that would no pose a problem.

In this scenario, there's no "double-dipping", no getting away with admission or FP for free that would otherwise have been paid for ,it seems like it would work. (It just is prevented in this case because there are still live tickets)

I'm trying to wrap my head around that but I can't figure out how it would work.
While a MB is a clone of any other MB they are still issued to a specific person based on a resort stay and it then accesses the tickets assigned to that person
I don't see how you undo that but I could be missing a piece of the puzzle

If anything should go wrong with the tickets or the MDX account or with the MBs or with the touch-point readers...
the guest's IDs would not match the account info.

(Of course nothing ever goes wrong with WDW tech.) :rolleyes1

The "new" guests would have to "impersonate" the existing family members in the MDX account.
(And, see my post #12 above.)

Oh, so PP is saying they would assign their tickets as existing wdwphile family member 1, family member 2, etc and then go as them? Because it's new ticket, new finger print.
Yeah, I can see lots going wrong, little going right, to save very little money for the original family in question. Plain MB aren't THAT expensive, if they really wanted them.
