Can I get a virtual que before I get my annual pass activated at guest relations?

We are arriving late so we will not be able to get our annual pass activated before the 7am que slot. The pass is on my MDE as a ticket but unusable until I visit the booth and activate it it. So can I still try for the que at 7am?

I don't believe MDE will let you make a park reservation, a BG or G+ reservation until you have an active ticket. It definitely won't let you make a BG or G+ unless you have a park reservation.

Also, if you are planning to use the AP to enter the park that day, and your visit is before January, then your park reservation MUST BE MADE using the AP. If you happen to have an older ticket under your name, DO NOT use that to make the park reservation or that ticket will be accessed/used not the AP.

You say you are arriving late, but it might be worthwhile to try to get to a Guest Services the night you arrive. The Disney Springs one is open until 10pm and 10:30pm on weekends. If one of the parks is open late that might be another option.

I believe that if MDE sees you have a ticket that will be valid on the date in question, it will let you make park reservations and book G+LLs and VQs. I'd try for the 7 AM VQ - you have nothing to lose and possibly a VQ to gain!

PS what indicates that your AP is unusable until activated at a ticket booth or GR? Are you a FL resident who has to prove residency?

I don't know what indicates it? But I know we have always needed to activate on arrival the first time it is used. A friend went last week and had to go to a ticket booth to activate hers. I do have my park reservations made so it is recognized as a ticket. I just wasn't sure if MDE could see that it hadn't been activated.

MDE may be able to see that, but since it allowed you to book park reservations, that means it recognizes that your AP will be valid that day and will allow you to try for a VQ.

I was able to book for my dh Memorial Weekend. Like you arrived late but I got up and booked everything fine. DD and I are long time AP holders but I had just purchased one for him. I did buy it online and it automatically linked to my MDE.

Also went right through park gates in the morning without issues. I did get an email that said we could go right into parks. I also called and got an AP for future son in law I did not get that same email for his.

I was told when I renewed my DVC AP that we didn’t need to go to guest services to activate any more. I will be checking next week when we arrive to be sure since 3 in our party have to get hard tickets for the purchase they have already made

I bought an AP when they went back on sale. Had a stay at the Contemporary in June (AP not activated yet). Booked park reservations no issues as MDE saw my pass in the account. Bought Tron ILL on the drive down to Florida (no issues). Activated APs at guest relations on the way in to MK.

I did have to talk to someone over the phone who walked me through making sure APs were all linked up in MDE though.

Just returned from a trip using new APs. We had no trouble booking park reservations with a voucher months in advance. We also went straight to the turnstiles and had no problems entering the park without visiting guest relations to "activate" the APs.

If you have an FL Resident AP Voucher but have not done the online FL Resident verification ... you have to go to GR, Ticket Center etc to show your proof of residency before the ticket will activate.

Otherwise I agree with you going to the gate direct would be when the pass is activated.

Thank you! I went back and reread the email and it does say we can go straight to the gate. I would have never checked that. Thank you so much!

When did you get the email saying you could go straight into the parks? We just renewed our DVC APs in July for our upcoming trip. The bane of our trip is activating the APs, as it always seems to take 15-30 minutes and there always is an issue that the person activating has to get a manager to resolve. If we can skip that whole ordeal it would be great -- although if we don't go and activate the APs, how do we get updated AP cards for discounts and the like?

You can go to guest services at any time to get a physical card. However, those cards don't contain your pass expiration date. When using a discount, passholders are increasingly being asked to show their pass in the MDE app which does show expiration date.

The physical cards don't do anything anymore. We are always asked to show our proof in the MDE app.

We did this very thing earlier this year, we had never used our AP but had a park reservation and we were able to try for the VQ for Guardians. We didn't get in, but the option was there to try. We ended up getting in the queue at the 1pm drop.

Wait...so we don't need to activate Annual Passes before first use anymore?

I had not activated my AP by entering the parks yet this May but I had made a park reservation for MK and morning of it still let me join VQ for TRON because I had a reservation so I think you'll be fine!

I did not have to in May! I just made reservations and it automatically activated when I entered the park with my MagicBand
