My husband likes a certain wine and I was planning on surprising him with one while on vacation. Do you think its ok to fly with it. Can I just put it in my carry on or should I just Fed-ex it? Thanks in advance. :rolleyes2

I have flown back from WDW with wine I purchased at EPCOT. I simply put it in my carry-on and took it on the plane with me. As long as you are not leaving the country, you should be fine.

Even if you area leaving the country it's usually not a problem. I've brought alcohol into Canada with me (and back out) a couple of times.

I have flown to and from Florida, Canada, Milwaukee, Denver, France, Italy, St. Thomas, Bermuda...with Wine, Grand Marnier...I simply put it in my carry-on and took it on the plane with me. As long as you don't drink it while you're on the plane you should be fine. Even though before 9/11, I always waited for the stewardesses to finish their Isle walk, then pulled out the bottle put it in the magazine seat pouch in front of me and took a few occasional sips.
Those were the good old Jet years.
Good Luck All,
Joe

P.S.
On our way to Denver, my friend brought a 6 pack of Bud in a collapsible cooler and drank it during the flight.
I would NOT recommend doing that today.

That's no problem.I fly three or four times a year and I have bottles of liquor, wine and champagne in my carry on all the time.I have never had any problems getting thru security.
We used to bubble wrap them and then put them in our carry bags but we always got stopped because for some reason they cannot see thru the bubble wrap...
Mmmm,go figure...
Put as many as you want to carry in your bag and have a couple of glasses for me!!

Thank you all for your answers. I will now surprise DH with favorite wine. I doubt that I could find it out there.

heck in my younger days, my carry on bag was a soft cooler big enough to carry a cold 12 pack. And yes we drank them on the plane!!! just couldnt sell it to other passengers. :stir: :stir:

Those were the days, weren't they?

I have traveled several places with wine on a plane. No more than 4 bottles however - it tends to get very heavy. I did bring a 3L bottle of California Chardonnay to Ireland a few years back and recently took three bottles with me on the plane to my DCL cruise. Here is thread about bringing beer, wine & liquor on board - maybe you can find a tip in there.

I have enough heavy stuff to carry in my carry-ons, so I just pack in tightly in my checked baggage. I wrap them up tightly in tee shirts or jeans and stow them in a part of the suitcase where they won't be anything moving around (in tight). I has worked well for me.

I just flew TO Vegas last week and brought a bottle in my carry-on. You will probably need to get a corkscrew from room service. My favorite type of red table wine (Bonny Doon Big House Red) has a screw top now (used to be cork), and that made it even easier. It was nice to have a glass of (free!) wine before going out on the town and speding $9-$15 on a glass.

No problems flying from Boston to Orlando with an unopened bottle in my carry-on.

I thought about putting it in my luggage---but that is just risky!!! My carryon is not very heavy--and I could stow away a bottle or two.. ;)
Again, thank you for your replies....... :cheer2:

DH has a travel bar that he routinely stocks when we travel. He puts it in his luggage, and has never had a problem.....We're usually good to go for martinis and manhattans.

Jodi we are your Wisconsin Twins, lol! I usually put my stash in a big ziplock and then in the hard sided suitcase.
