ok so im going in sept with my family of 5..we arrive sept 12th. my mom and mil are joining us on the 15th. my question is , they are not arriving until 3:40 in the afternoon..we have requested connecting rooms..will they let me check them in in the morning and hold thier key to the world cards if i have the cc the trip was booked with? i know i might have to change rooms that day and am willing to but in order to change rooms i would also need to be sure that i am securing thier room otherwise they will give it away by 3:40 im thinking( do you follow what i am saying here?)..so what advice do you have??

is the connecting room thing clearly documented in both reservations? your best bet is to get up and go down the morning of, and discuss it with the front desk. no way to predict if a connecting room will be available.

Make sure that Disney has a "travel with" in both reservations. That way the room assigner will see that you two will be there together.

I agree with the PP. Make sure that the request is documented on both ressies. When you arrive on the 12th discuss the situation with the CM at the front desk. Make them aware that you will move rooms if neccessary.

As far as getting their KTTW on the 15th.....my feeling is that if you are paying for the room with your CC, it will not be a problem unless the DDP is involved. In which case they have to check themselves in and present ID.

Just call CRO and ask.

yup dining plan is involved..what if i check in but dont get the cards..they get the cards i will just secure the room...ugg this is to complicated

Your best bet is to call and ask. If the CM is not very helpful or you feel they don't really know what they are talking about either hang up and call back or ask for a supervisor.

If I were in your situation I would want to know in advance how it was going to happen.

Unless the room is in your name, they will not let you check in for them--even if you are paying for it. :sad2:

I believe there are laws (or at least company regulations) requiring someone checking-in to a hotel to show ID matching the name on the reservation.

Perhaps you could have your name on the reservation of the "other" room???

I hate to be the bad news bear, but connecting rooms are not ever guaranteed for 2 parties with adults. Different arrival dates makes it extremely difficult to get connecting rooms. "Traveling with" notations do get ignored and from my experience you will be lucky to be in the same building.

We arrived with my parents, on the same day, with requested connecting rooms, and ended up 1 floor apart and at opposite ends of the building. The desk could see the "traveling with" notation on both ressies, and the requested connecting or adjoining rooms...they just didn't have any available. Too bad, so sad..."take what we have or we have no rooms for you at all"...no apology, nothing.

This got worse when we switched resorts half way through the trip and ended up in different rooms, at opposite ends of the Polynesian...again, "sorry, that's all we have."

Just be prepared for anything to happen, but do ask when you check in if you are assigned to a connecting room that has a departure date of when your parents are checking in...then go to the desk and remind them that the to be vacated room should, if possible, be assigned to your parents. Maybe that will help.

Good luck.

I would make plans assuming non connecting rooms and be delighted if you actually were able to get connecting rooms. It is difficult for Disney to predict such specific availability 3 days apart. There is probably another family coming in together on the 11th leaving on the 18th requiring those same rooms...guess who will get it. :headache:

This is my story. I made two reservations at All Star Music - one for my husband and me starting December 23rd for seven nights. Then one in my father-in-law's name starting on December 27th. I asked for connecting rooms but adjoining would be fine, even just on the same floor. This was over Christmas/New Year's after all.

We checked in fine, had a good time until the in-laws were getting there. Which was supposed to be around 4:00 that afternoon (they ended up being much later but that's another story). In the morning, I went down to see if I could check them in myself. Was not a problem at all. Now, our last names are the same. I got their room keys and all the information they needed. And their room was ready and right next to us. It was a connecting room.

My father-in-law paid for the entire trip. I had my credit card on our reservation and nothing for my in-laws. They could have done that when they got there but chose not too.

All I had to do was give them their room number and they were fine.

Maybe I was lucky but I never even thought twice about it. Just did it.

I know that when we went in Aug, my mom made the ressies for both rooms and she was paying for both of them. They let her make the ressies, but would not let her have both of the rooms in her name. (She called several times trying to get it changed, but they wouldn't let her.) When we checked in, they would not let her check in for both rooms--they made me check in for one because I was 'listed' as staying in the other room, even though she was paying for both and had made the ressies for both. When she called back later to get the room number (room wasn't ready when we check in) they gave her the room number for her room, but would not give her the number for the other room--even though she made the ressies and paid for the whole thing!:confused3

I'm not sure if maybe it was just because we were AP holders using a room discount or what the situation was, but she was NOT happy.:sad2: Funny though, they had NO problem whatsoever letting her pay for both rooms...
