book the dining plan and part tickets through Disney if I'm renting points at DVC? Would it save me over buying them separately?

It is my understanding that the member you are renting the points from will need to tell them at Member Services that you want to add the dining plan to your reservation. The price is the same for everyone.

As for the tickets, you can purchase that from any place that sells it - gate, wdw online, travel agencies or other online companies. Some may have better discounts than others.

You would have to figure out what would save you money, but you CAN have the DVC Member book the Dining Plan for you, with no ticket purchase required. You would pay for the Dining Plan in its entirety when you check in.
