Can I do this...and should I?! Splitting stay with PIN #

I realize that I can't use my PIN # for Free Dining AND split that reservation between 2 resorts.

But...can I use my Free Dining pin to stay at French Quarter (which I'm currently booked for 9 nights 1/31-2/9) for 7 nights and then move to AKL for nights 8 & 9, with a whole new ressie using my Room Only 35% PIN?

I would be paying exactly $18 more to do this and yes I realize that I'd be having to pay OOP for the last two days worth of meals. But we are going to Discovery Cove one day, which includes your meals while you're there...so it's really just one day we'd need to pay for food, right? I just need to make sure DC day is while we're at AKL.

I really want to experience AKL and this seems like a pretty viable option. Plus after 7 days in the same hotel room, I think it would be nice to change it up a little bit (even though the room will basically be the same size).

Looking for opinions and advice please and hoping there are not extra costs I'm not considering :confused3

You used to be able to do that and it was asked earlier this week on the boards and the answer was yes you can use both aspects of the PIN just not on the same reservation so it's worth a try.

I think it's a great idea!

Thanks! I actually tried calling Disney to check on it, but the hold time is over 20 minutes.... I'll try again later.

I am nervous about this because of losing out on FD for the whole trip. I guess in the back of my mind, if the weather is unseasonably cold I will NOT get tickets for Discovery Cove so we will need to buy meals for 2 days. On the other hand we'll save over $600 not going to DC.

My kids WILL love AKL, right?!? Even if it's just a standard room?

I think they will. It's a great resort

I've called three times and been on hold for over 20 minutes each time having to hang up eventually! I am not a patient person so unless I call & get right on the phone with a CM, this is not going to happen. :-(

Just spent a matter of only 3 minutes on hold! Connected with a great CM, who knew what he was doing and claimed he has the best job in the world!

I am now booked for POFQ for 7 nights with free dining, followed by 2 nights ( 3 FULL days) at AKL.

I am in love with the idea of finishing up our trip at AKL, a place I never really thought we could afford. I think my kids will really love it!

I am planning on using our remaining dining credits on the 7th since they're good until midnight that might. Then on the 8th we are planning to go to Discovery Cove, which includes meals. That just leaves our departure day, which we'll spend as much time as we can enjoying the AKL, since our flight is a late one. That just leaves one day of buying food!!

By the way, for anyone waiting for more or different promos, the CM strongly suggested people check the website on a regular basis. ;-)

Not that you asked for my opinion, but I just wanted to give a different option. I would consider doing Discovery Cove durng your POFQ stay, Then use those dining credits on your 1st day at AKL. I wouldn't want to pay to move to a deluxe resort & then not be around to enjoy it. Your park tickets would still be good during your AK stay, so you could go into a park if you wanted to.

I actually appreciate your opinion, as I am an over thinker and sometimes worry about each and every decision I've made! We don't do big vacations every year, and this could quit possibly be our last Disney trip so I truly want it to be special.

If we did DC while at POFQ, as you suggest, I'm not seeing how that will help the dining situation. I can't carry anything over past midnight on my check-in to AKL day, so I plan to use "day 7" of dining that day. I then would have the next day that will be no-dining, so that would be the ideal DC day, right? I totally get what you're saying about not wasting an entire day away from our special resort. Trust me, I was already thinking the same thing. Am I looking at it the wrong way??

If you are arriving to POFQ later you will still have those credits from day 1 unless you use them the first day you are at Disney. We usually get there later and eat offsite on our arrival night but we usually drive so we have a car. doing that allows us a credit left for check out day for a nice breakfast or lunch/dinner if we leave later.

I think DC while you are at AKL would be fine since the food would be covered so that takes care of 1 day w/out the dining plan. I agree I wouldn't want to be away from AKL long but you will still get 2 days to enjoy the resort.

What are your plans for day 1? Since your first day and last day on dining split the credits, you may only have one meal left the day you check in. Are you planning a resort day for AKL?

Same question as the others: are you not using credits on your arrival day? I was assuming you were. If you can share a counter service meal or 2, you could use the extra counter service credit that last day to get some sandwiches. Store them in your fridge for lunch the next day ( maybe at the pool?) If you can save a few snack credits, maybe get some pastries for breakfast on your AK resort stay.

Hmmm, can't help with that! You have to look at it as what's good for yor family & only you can decide that! :goodvibes

I guess my next question would be: what is your time at AKL worth? I really can't see paying that much for a resort & then spending a whole day away from it. But that's me!

You would actually only be spending 2 days there if you do DC during your stay. You could just book 1 night & stay an extra day @ POFQ & get another day's meals. You'd get your 2 days @ AKL & the cost savings would pay for your meals the last day.

Sorry, I'm not tryog to confuse you more, just trying to help you get the most from your AKL stay, considering what you pay to stay there. :goodvibes
