Can I do curbside check-in even if I'm not checking luggage?

I fly out of Bradley in CT. I have E-tickets from Delta for the first time. I think I've read you can do curbside check-in to get actual tickets. I'm not planning on checking any luggage, just carry-on bags. Can I still do curbside check-in to avoid the wait at the counter? Do I still need to check-in at the gate if I have my "real" tickets? I've already got my seat assignment from my reservationl.

If you are e-ticketed with no checked luggage you may go directly to the gate.

You will need to stop at the gate counter so that they give you your boarding passes because even though you have the E ticket & your assigned seat reserved you need to pick up the boarding pass to give to the attendent at the gate.

Curbside is to check in luggage. Counter is to check in people and luggage.Curbside attendants, aka Sky Caps, live off their tips from people curbing their luggage. If you intend to use them, PLEASE, out of courtesy to those who are checking their luggage, curb your luggage and tip the sky cap. They are not there to help avoid lines at the counter.

I don't know how much luggage you're bringing but some people go crazy avoiding checking luggage and lug too much luggage through the airport. With E-Tickets you don't have to go to the counter but go directly to the gate. Really shouldn't be much of a line. No reason to use the Skycap.

thank Lewis, et al,
I missed the eticket part, however, the balance of my reply remains unedited. :)
Lewis, re: your comment about carryon luggage, I totally concur. Not only do the passengars go nuts, I go nuts trying to avoid it while trying to get to the exit to the airport.
