Can I do better than $199 per week on a minivan????

$199 with our without tax is pretty much the best deal you are going to get.

Plus you can also try and get a discount through Disney Club, a Wholesale club like Sams or BJs, Entertainment book, Walmart.com or the Vacation outlet etc.....

I think so, by a bit... try alamo with rate code BY and #430710

I got a minivan for $180 a week with them... 2 weeks total with tax is $461... HTH, Steph

Hey there!
Try L&M at MCO. They are supposed to be in the parking garage(On-Site) and I got a minivan for a week at $180.00 for June.
I did a rental search from Orbitz website and booked online.

Let us know how you do!

John

The best price that I am seeing is at Alamo using the codes mentioned above, Dagny. It is about $192 for the week - no taxes or surcharges.

I will keep looking though. :)

Megnsamsgrace, can you tell me where you got the code? Will I need a paper coupon when I pick up the car? This code beats my current rate at Alamo by $23., but with my code I need a coupon to turn it at the rental desk. Thanks, Michele

I believe the Alamo code is supposed to be for Walmart shoppers from what I heard? Most people shop Walmart but I dont know where the code originated.

When I booked it with Alamo they said nothing about needing a coupon, I told them I got the code from Wal Mart... I asked her if I needed a coupon at pick up and she said no... Try and call and ask... Steph

Thanks for the tip! This saved us about $42 for our June trip....we had a $199/week Dollar rate that I thought I wouldn't beat.

Thanks megnsamsgrace! You saved me over 50 bucks for our July trip!

Dagny--I booked with Budget through Costco and got a rate of 204.00 for the week and then got an online coupon from mousesavers reference that is $20 off weekly rental. So my weekly total is 184.00. Although someone suggested L&M, IMHO I'd stick with one of the bigger companies. I've rented through L&M before and would not recommend them.

In a nutshell , I don't think you can save more than 20-30 overall so make the choice based on what kind of van you want, whether the rental company is in the airpost or not. Of course--save the $20 for sure! :) MJ

Well....thanks to this message thread, I was thrilled to get a $178.49/week minivan from Alamo using the Walmart rate last night. However, today in the mail I received my Disney Visa Rewards newsletter and it included a 20% Alamo coupon. Just for the heck of it, I tried the codes on that coupon and I ended up with a $164.89/week minivan from Alamo. Total including tax for 12 days is $346.53!!! Requirement is that you use a Disney Visa to pay for the rental. This ended up saving me another $69 bucks over the WalMart rate (which had saved me $40+ bucks over the $199 Dollar Rate).....just when I thought the Disney Visa was pretty useless!

The deal also includes a free childs character breakfast voucher, but given that we'd have 3 paying adults and another paying child in our case the character breakfast voucher wouldn't really save us anything.

Hi ALL!
Just got off the "TOO BUSY AT THIS TIME!" Alamo website!

This DIS Board never stops to amaze me with the"POWER OF THE MESSENGER".

By the way,
for the New Englanders just got off the Delta site and threw in a few dates for June after schools out and July 4th, from BOS to MCO or RSW.
Prices ranged from $200 TO $240 and thats for NONSTOPS,Delta Express and Song.
No codes or coupons.

Thanks to All !!!!

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

THE MAGIC HAPPENS!!!

Hi Buzzlightyear3 We've used Alamo in the past. You should be aware that we've used Alamo, Dollar and Avis,(we prefer Avis), and you may want to reconsider, unless going off-site and standing in long lines is worth saving a few bucks. Alamo was terrible. We stood in line for over 1/2 an hour, (after a 10-15 minute shuttle bus ride). You also have to lug,(pun fully intended),your luggage onto the shuttle bus, and keep a eye on it while standing in line.
Both Dollar and Avis are on-site, which is very convenient. Alamo and Dollar, also have a $5.00per day surcharge, (even if it's your spouse), for additional drivers. Avis doesn't have this surcharge, as long as it's a spouse. JMHO If you haven't already done so, you should join one of the preferred renters programs, (i.e. Avis Preferred, or Dollar Fastlane). It doesn't cost anything to join and is very convenient. Hope this helps!

Has anyone used the "TV" Alamo code that is posted on Mousesavers.com? It is so low that it makes me nervous, as she states "no idea where it came from." But it's quoting me $149.24 a week for a mini-van! Wow, can this be for real?

Skinsfan.....thanks for the 'heads up' on the Alamo service issues. I'd heard that they'd merged with National and were now on-site, so I've started a separate thread to check for recent experience with them. You're correct in that there's a limit to the service-cost tradeoff!

^&*%$ - I tried getting that rate from Alamo and I keep getting $229 per week!!! I should have mentioned earlier that I am renting from Dallas, not Orlando, and that definitely appears to be the difference..... :(

Thanks for the replies everyone.... just wish I could get a code in MY favor, LOL :)

No problem Buzzlightyear3 I should make a correction though. Alamo is now on-site, so the catching the shuttle bus thing shouldn't be an issue. I do, however, stand by my statement that the service stinks. There's a pretty good thread, concerning Alamo, on the transportation board. Hope this helps! :bounce:

Oops! Buzz....I didn't read your post carefully enough. I see that you're on top of things. Have fun!
