Can I do 2 separate ADRs for our group?

We're in the process of figuring out the logistics for our WDW trip next summer with my in-laws who are not as into Mr. Mouse as I am. DH and I were thinking it would be nice to give them a meal or two somewhere really nice - this is their first trip to WDW, so we'd love for them to enjoy the less cartoon side of the magic.

My idea was to have them eat in World Showcase while DH, DD, and I ate at Garden Grill. Can I book two ADRs within our group for the same time as long as they are equal the total number of guests? i.e. - 2 for San Angel Inn, 3 for GG would equal our group of 5 staying in the resort.

I was just curious since I know they link ADRs to reservations and we had them ask about overlap on a previous trip with ADRs. Maybe it's a moot point, but I'd rather be prepared.

Last year when my family of 6 went, we ate at different places several times with no issues. I think you will be fine.

You can have two ADR's for the same time period but you will have to call to make them. They recently updated the online reservation system to not allow multiple ADR's for the same time. The change was to prevent people from making multiple reservations to keep their options open. You should have no problem if you call and explain your reasons for wanting two ADR's.

You can make your ADRs on line but use different email, phone numbers, etc. We did this last December when we traveled with more of us. Not a problem with 2 different reservation Ids, then nothing was conflicting in the eye of the Disney computer.

I didn't even think of that! I'm under the whole 'link it to the hotel' mindset (which I'm sure Disney loves). Putting a separate one with in-laws info would work better anyway since it'll be them and not me using it!

Do your ils have their own reservation? If so link theirs to their ressie... It's what I did for my ils...

We did this for our ILs for our upcoming January trip. We wanted to make an ADR for Teppan Edo but my ILs do not like Japanese food whatsoever, so instead they wanted me to make an ADR for them at Nine Dragons (they Love Chinese food ). I tried doing this online and got the message stating that one of our ADRs will be cancelled if I proceeded, then I tried using my ILs info, but since they have the same last name as us, it still wouldn't work (unless I was doing something wrong on my end). Therefore, I called the dining line and explained my situation and they were happy to help me out. Now I have the 2 ADRs that I needed.

I had the same plan with our group of 12. I had the problem of booking two ADR's online at the same time, as the system won't allow a conflict in times. I ended up putting one reservation under my name and one under another person's in our party. I had to use two separate email addresses and phone contacts to do so, but it worked.
