Can I (directly) PIF with giftcards when booked through TA?

Getting close to my PIF date and I called Disney to apply some GCs to my balance, but the CM said he couldn't take GC as a payment. I thought I had read some time back that even if you're booked through a TA you could call to make a payment via a GC.

Or does my TA have to apply the GCs (I have them combined to $1,000 GCs, so it shouldn't be a ton of work for her)?

I have a DVA, but it hasn't been open the 120 days or whatever for the extra deal on it. But if I can apply my GCs and then pay from DVA - I suppose I could do that too.

What's the scoop?

All payments have to be made through your travel agent, regardless of the payment method.

I paid my cruise off using gift cards. I just had to give the numbers to the Travel Agent.

We are using a TA this time around and are using GC for all payments. I just give the TA the card number and then get confirmation from them that the payment has been applied along with my new balance.

You can go the DVA route-I did it this way. I called 800-511-9333 to pay cruise in full (and added some on board credit). Then be sure to let your travel agent know you paid it in full (I'm guessing they'd get notified but I did notify ours and had them verify it).

This! Our TA didn't know we had PIF and sent me a freaked out email that I needed to pay.

The DVA is so nice because you can keep track of all your gift cards there and enter them all on your own. Then at the end of the cruise, if you have any onboard credit left, it just goes back to the DVA.

I entered my gift cards into DVA and called DCL to pay my balance. I would still go that route if your account hasn't been open 120 days, I am pretty sure you can request the bonus later and use that towards a future trip.

I went ahead and just had my TA call them in. I will do the DVA next time (or when my DVC dues are due in a month).
