I just cancelled our trip in March. Diesel prices just won't come down. We were pulling our 36ft trailer from WI to Florida and we figured it would cost us well over $500, we were figuring about $250. Flying would be cheaper.

I wanted to take my down payment and make it for April 2007 and the CM said you can only book 500 days out. So maybe I'll make a countdown to when I know I can call for my next vacation.

UPDATE!!!
This was an unexpected side trip for me and my dd. My husband and sons were going to Gainsville for the first National Motocross Race of the Season. $500 may not seem like a lot, but when the races start heading to the Midwest during warm weather, that $500 can take us to at least 10 races.

I had the hotel room and 4 meal vouchers for me and my dd and our park hoppers. It wasn't in the racing budget to spend that amount for one race. I just saw it as an opportunity to get to WDW for me and my dd while the guys were in Gainsville.

I'm going to start looking into next January and I am for sure going to go when my dd marches in the Magic Kingdom parade in April 2007.

If it's any consolation, I think I'm postponing our trip too. I was originally planning Thanksgiving week, then thought I could push it to go in June, but decided to use thetax refund towards DH's tool chest instead. I don't think I canscrpae enough $ together for the trip I want to experience without pincing too tightly. Waiting another year will allow me to save more $ for the vacation we want to experience.

OhMari: I'm sorry you're not going to make in March. Never fear... WDW will alweays be there waiting for you.

Is there no way to come up with the extra $250 to get you to Disney? Could you sell some things on e-bay? Do some odd jobs for someone? Have a garage sale?

I feel your pain. We also have a diesel and are going to be towing a 27' trailer from Wisconsin. We are estimating approximately $600 for fuel for our trip in May 2006. Hope you can find a way to still go!!! :moped:

$250 sounds like a small amount to postpone a planned trip. Don't get me wrong, I'm not rich and know the value of five bucks, but it seems like a small amount when it comes to a trip to WDW.

Can you put it on a credit card? Borrow it from savings or even family? Not to be a "Debbie Downer" but if it is that bad that $250 can break such big plans I would be a little worried about other things too. A flat tire, bad weather or unexpected traffic causing you to spend a night somewhere on the way there, etc... It doesn't take much to spend that much these days, BUT by the same token with a little effort you can save it pretty quick too. And even if it takes a lot of effort it will be worth it. GOOD LUCK!

Why don't you try for this April (instead of March) Gives you another 30 days to get $250 together...
Have you heard of GEICO?Don't they say they can save around $300... ING...have a few people that owe you open small accounts.
Wander around the mall and get snagged by the Marketing Police!
Collect bottles every where you can.
Do one less dinner in the parks.

Even if it is still not doable, the 500 day mark is not that far off! ;) Good Luck.

I think I am going to postpone my trip in May. Had to take a cut in pay at work (thanks to layoffs) and then I was able to get a ticket for the Super Bowl, so went there instead.

Now I'm bummed about cancelling, but hoping to reschedule for late Nov./early Dec.

We figure $1100 for our drive from Arizona to WDW. That is still cheaper than airline tickets and a rental car for 4 weeks :confused3 I just checked MS Money and it seems I guessed wrong. Last year we spent $1200  Gas was at its highest last June. I am soooo glad Exxon/Mobil made record profits last year. I am sure they will put that $25 billon profit to good use :rolleyes1 Last June oil was $40/barrel while gas was over $2.00/gal. We paid $2.24 in Flagstaff in May 2004.
In Dec 2004 oil hit $55 while gas is near $2 but less than the May price. The oil companies raised the cost of refining gas from oil from $0.06/gal to $0.50/gal from May though July.:-(
Exxon's profits in the refining group tripled last year.
