Can I convert to a package without losing my discount?

We have a room only ressie at the Poly for March booked under a PIN code I received a few months ago. I'm pretty sure the PIN code has expired. After crunching the numbers a few times, it appears we will save more money if we add the dining plan than if we don't. We haven't bought our tickets yet - so it won't be a problem to have those added on either. My question is: if I call to have the dining plan and tickets added (effectively converting to a package), will I lose the discount under my PIN code? I thought I read somewhere that if you change a room only ressie to a package that it has to be completely rebooked so I wasn't sure if this would be a problem. If it will, then we'll just leave it the way it is and pay OOP for our dining. TIA!

I have to disagree with PP. If you were changing your resort but still maintaining a room only reservation then I believe you could do that under your existing reservation and still use your PIN. As you said though, going from a room only to a package reservation means cancelling the old and booking a new reservation. Because the PIN is now expired, I don't believe you can make this change.

You can certainly call CRO and see if it can be done. A first line CM will NOT be able to do it. You'll need to ask for I believe it's Guest Services if you have any hope of being able to do it. There's no harm in calling to ask.

What will actually happen is the first line CM will find the package code associated with the PIN, call guest services, and get permission to book it. Guest services has to override it, so that the agent can book it for you.

Adding tickets and dining will not affect your room discount - even if the pin has expired. My suggestion is to know what the price should be with the discounted room, tickets, dining and tax. (Since you've been number crunching you probably already have that info.) Having your target number when you call will insure that your discount doesn't get lost in the transition.

This was my experience (though I was adding a package to a GP room-only rate that was past its book-by date, rather than a PIN). It was all handled very smoothly.
