For the same dates, I have 7 day reservations for AOA and Animal Kingdom Lodge. If I call Disney, can I take these two reservations and modify into a split stay reservation (3 days at one, and 4 days at the other)?

You'll just have to call Disney.

Sometimes, especially if the reservations were booked under some type of promotion (ie, free dining or other discount), there has to be availability for the "new" reservation. It's not as simple as saying "I just need to shorten these two reservations".

Even if they are able to do it, they will remain as two separate reservations with separate ADR and FP+ dates.

Disney doesn't recognize the concept of a split stay. That's a term created on Disney fan sites like this one. What we call a split stay is just two back-to-back reservations. So, you already have a split stay.

There's no way to combine reservations that are at two different resorts. If it were the same resort and same room type, yes, you could combine them.
