Can I check bottled Dr. Pepper? Also.. what food can I take thru security? Like candy and snacks etc.. I know not liquid.

I would think you could check it, but I would worry about it exploding in my suitcase. You can pack anything you want in your check in bag, but remember they do not handle those bags with kid gloves and things could be damaged. I backed cereal and fruit bars in mine and they did fine. I don't think I would do any liquids.

Yes, please don't check bulk liquids, especially carbonated beverages. If the container breaks, cracks, explodes, etc., the resulting spill can affect not only your luggage and its contents, but also that of other passengers.

Aside from concerns about breakage - and I think that is a valid concern - I would be concerned about weight. Liquids are heavy and luggage fees are high. I would see about having the Dr. Pepper delivered from a grocery company or take a taxi offsite

You can carry any food on board that is not considered liquid, gel or paste.

I do it but I put the soda cans in a Ziploc than in a padded envelope that you would use for shipping for cushion

I do the same thing; I am taking a couple of friends with me this year and we got the dining plan. Each one of us is going to bring a bottle of liquor to mix with soda; we are going to try to get the plastic bottle versions if we can, then put it in a ziploc bag; and then a padded envelope just to be safe. I put the envelope in the middle of my clothes; not on the bottom or the top.

This is advice that everyone should listen to.

If you've never had someone else's liquid 'whatever' escape its container and get all over your luggage and clothes - you're lucky. Take it from one who has had this happen to them: it's not a pleasant way to start a vacay.

Do as kaytieelder says: "please don't check" liquids in your luggage.

I agree. They have plenty of Dr. Pepper in Florida. If you don't have anything else to fill your suitcase, I guarantee you will be happier with a lighter bag to schlep around. Of course....with more room...that means more room for

SHOES !!!:banana::banana::banana:

I don't think it should be a problem with people packing one bottle of booze or wine or something in a suitcase, as long as they pack it properly.

But those seeking to bring soft drinks or water are not generally talking about one bottle - they're taking about something like a week's supply, or several days' supply for 2 or more people. Or they are considering packing aluminum cans. One or two maybe, but six to twelve? I can't imagine trying that in a suitcase.

While they have plenty of Dr Pepper in Florida, they don't have the stuff at Disney. I can understand people wanting to bring their own. While we don't bring soda we always carry Sweet-n-low since that is something else Disney doesn't have :confused3

A package of Sweet & Low won't leak all over your luggage.

Or, more to the point - over/into other luggage in the cargo hold. And of course if we're wrong and it does leak, it's easy to brush off with no lasting effects.

Add me to the list of people that have had their luggage soaked by stuff in other peoples luggage.

I admit my bias on this issue. I get much more annoyed by this problem than when an airline temporarily loses my luggage.

I could see checking a nice bottle of wine or beer that is not sold at your home / destination. I have checked both without any problems. The key (especially for those of you who have gotten your luggage wet) is I always seal the wine or beer bottle in a plastic bag after bubble wrapping it to ensure it won't leak on my stuff or anyone else's stuff But Dr. Pepper??? What's the point, just make a grocery stop or use one of the grocery delivery services if you really want a case of Dr. Pepper in your hotel room.

Yes, but the question is can you take any food through security? I understood that TSA will not allow food through the security process and that the only food that can be taken on the plane must be purchased after the security checkpoint.

You are misinformed. As the PP stated, any food not considered a liquid, cream, paste, or gel can go through security.

You can take all kinds of food through security. Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, sandwiches, fries, burritos, tacos, salads (with dressing or on the side in your 3-1-1), fruits, veggies, etc.

I was near a woman in the security line a few years ago, the weekend of T-giving and she was carrying three homemade pecan pies. They took them, because they considered them to be "gel" like consistency.

So you cannot take every kind of food through security.

And boy, was she hot - she said the TSA was just looking for some good homemade pie for dessert.
