Can I change to non-hoppers without penalty and would I want to?

Can you change a the type of tickets you have on a package without penalty (we are 80 days out)? If so, what would you do in this situation...

We are going for 7 days and currently have 7 day park hoppers. My itinerary is complete and we are only in parks 6 days and have no hopping planned (turns out dh is anti-hopping :confused3 ). Should I revise our ressies (if possible) to save the $150 (approx.) or should I leave the ressies as is in case something comes up and we have to change our itinerary at the last minute?

What would you do?

I would leave it. Right now we don't have the park hopper option, but when we get there, we are going to add them. We are going when it is my bday and I will want to ph. You never know what might come up.

Personally, I would call and try to change if there is no penalty (shouldn't be). If you later decide that you need 7 days or need to hop, you can always upgrade any time up to the last day (just upgrade before using your last day). Why pay for "what if" if there is no penalty to wait until the situation arises?

I live by the park hopper pass. What are you going to do if you head to MK on Monday morning and see how crowded it is? Then, you realize that there is NO way you will be able to do anything with less than a 3 hour wait and the crowd is so thick that you can't move without bumping into about 10 people. That is when you hop over to another park and have all the fun that you can handle. We hopped during our last trip and was able to do all 4 parks twice in 5 days. We were able to do everything that we wanted and a lot of it more that once. I recommend hopping.

Along the same lines, I need to add the park hopper onto our tickets. Can i do that upon check-in at the resort? :earseek:

Yes, you can.

Best wishes -

I see that your signature says that your children are 2 and 4. The last 2 trips that we've taken my sons were about that age. We park hopped almost every day! There were so many times when we couldn't hit the attractions that the boys wanted to see because of time limitations, so we had to go back another day. For instance one day we realized the last show of The Lion King was starting and we were too far across the park to make it in time. So the next day we went to Animal Kingdom first and went to the Lion King show and then hopped to another park for the day.

Another thing we found on our first trip was that our boys didn't really like very much at MGM and we didn't want to spend an entire day there. And I was shocked that they wanted to go back to Animal Kingdom. It was nice to be able to do more than one park in a day.

My advice for a good trip with young children is to be flexible and take a break if you need to - do not push the kids too hard. That means that sometimes you can't do everything in 1 park in 1 day. Good luck! :wave2:

I can't imagine not park-hopping either! I think every single day I've ever been there, I've spent the morning at one park, went back for a nap or swim at the resort, and hopped over to another that night.

It's up to you, but consider keeping it. The flexibility is really nice.

I would ditch the park hoppers. But then I know we aren't a park hopping family.
Do you generally park hop? Then get it. If you don't, then save the money.
Now we like the plus options (Disney quest, water parks) so we get those.

I changed my tickets back in February to a non-hopper. I took the hopper option off probably about 2 weeks before our trip (it was just DH and I). We were only there for 4 days and knew what we wanted to do every day. We were there in 2003 for 8 for our wedding/honeymoon and we never park hopped then either. If you feel that your plans are solid enough, I would take the option off to save that extra money.

But on the other hand, since you will be there for 7 days, it might be nice to know that you would have the flexibility to change your plans with the park hopper option.

I guess the point of my post is, if you do want to take the option off, you won't have a penalty and it is not too late to do it.

You can always add it back when you are there (though you do miss out on the advance purchase discount for adding it.) I don't see any reason why you shouldn't remove it if your plans don't require hopping.

We planned to hop 2-3 times during our week last year, and bought hopper tickets. Only two of the four of us did (both kids came down with some virus while we were there on different days) and we only hopped once. I could have saved $50 or so by not getting it in advance. On the other hand, it was very pleasant to be able to hop to MK on that last day with my son (who was a bit too young to have much interest in EP, which is where we started that day) so it was nice to be able to go to MK instead. If I would have had to pay $70 on the spot for it, I might not have done it.

I love hopping but I am questioning the value. Last year we went for a week and had 5 day hoppers and hopped 4 out of the 5 days. This year we are going for 10 days and I was planning on getting a 7 day hopper but now I am thinking of an 8 or 9 day non hopper. For 4 people, it costs $140 to hop but only about $10 to add a day. Since we’ll be there so long I am not sure if going in the AM and then just not coming back that day is a big deal. We will have plenty of other days to do the other parks.

I love hopping but is it worth it? What are your thoughts?

Also, I know you can add on the hopping later but what about adding on extra days? If you purchase 7 days then half way through your trip you decide you need 8 can you add on the extra day for the $10?? How about if you do the advance purchase???

If anyone can answer these questions, it would be much appreciated.

I really think it's up to you and your touring style, but I know for me, the longer I'm there, the more I park-hop. After you've been there a week, you might just want to do a few rides at the park before you are ready to move on.

JMHO, I know someone will say just the opposite of that! :)

.
Adding days to tickets already in your hands is done at resort Guest Services or park Guest Relations. THe cost of the upgrading is the same whether you bought the ticket at a discount, at a Disney Store, or at the park. This preserves any advance discount you already got. Four dollars for the eighth day on a 7 day expiring pass.

Before the deadline for making changes to packages you can change the tickets that come with the package in any way but all family members have to have the same kind of ticket. After check in and receiving the tickets, each family member can add any desired features independently.

Thanks, So to clarify, if I wanted an 8 day hopper with an advance discount, I should buy the 7 day hopper and then add the 8th day when I get there. Correct?

TIA!!

if you could use the money, i'd can the hoppers since your schedule isn't using them...if you get there andecide you need them get them then.

we usually hop but maybe won't now ( that is a big issue with me)

I see that you will be there the end of November, beginning of December. Hoppers will give you the ability to spend the day in one park and then hit another park for fireworks, parades, fantasmic, Candlelight Processional or the Osborne Lights. I know that even when we spend 7 days in the parks, sometimes the time just seems to get away from us. We have found the we spend the last few days jumping from park to park catching up on the things that we have missed. We have even seen Illuminations in Epcot and then hopped the monorail to the Magic Kingdom to catch the parade. I can't imagine going without the freedom to hop.

Also, is buying the extra day(s) a pain or easy to do?
