So this is our first Disney Cruise and because I have never been on a cruise I decided to use a travel agent the woman that I went with is local with me and it's an independent Walt Disney World travel agent I have been less than impressed every step along the way everything from her spelling our names wrong multiple times although she has finally gotten that corrected to not responding to emails until I second one or third one has been sent and then today when I asked two questions I was told that my tips had not been paid in advance like I had originally requested but that I could do that with her now I just have to give her my card information and when I asked about an onboard credit or some type of perk or gift because we were first-time Cruisers she had mentioned that in our phone conversation the first time we spoke I've now been told no she doesn't offer anything like that because she's an independent agent I'm very frustrated from dealing with her and if I can change my travel agent to a different company I would definitely like to do that is that even a possibility? Or am I stuck my cruise leaves on October 28th

I’m sorry you aren’t having a good experience with your TA. You may be able to ask DCL to remove the TA, especially if there is real “cause” such as improper handling of payments. But they aren’t likely to do it for relatively minor reasons (though I can understand how lots of little things stack up over time!). You would not be allowed to transfer to a different TA. Since your cruise is so close, i’d just stick it out. Ask questions here so you have limited contact with the TA. Presumably everything she needed to do has been done at this point. Be sure to have her removed if you book a placeholder, and get that transferred to another TA within 30 days.

Enjoy your cruise!

Thank you, I appreciate your feedback. It is extremely frustrating dealing with someone who seems incredibly unorganized and I find it disrespectful that it takes several emails to get a response. I believe everything is taken care of (of course I thought my tips were prepaid only to find out today that they were not). I will definitely not use this agent again.

Just make sure that if you get a placeholder on board, you specify that the placeholder should got to you and not your current TA.

While it may be possible for DCL to "take back" a TA's reservation, I'll just point out that some TAs charge a cancellation/change fee if you remove them from a reservation.

Oh wow, I certainly dont want to pay her any fee.. I'll just chalk this up to lesson learned and put her in the dont use list for future trips.

To change a travel agent, they require the existing agent to sign to release the booking. So you would have to ask the existing agent and that is typically very awkward. Since you are so close to your sailing, your best bet is to stick it out on this one. Other than the cruise fare, there isn't much else you can pay ahead of time, but since you just found out about the pre-paid gratuities; do you have transfers? If so, just confirm they are on the reservation. Everything else is handled by DCL so you should be okay.
