So if my reservation includes one time use points that I purchased when I made the res, am I able to change the res to either a different day or different resort as long as I'm within my use year?

Yes, the OTU points will not expire until the end of the use year of the original stay. If you cancel the original reservation that used them, the points go back into your account just as your "regular" points would. However, OTU points will not show up in your online account and you will have to call MS to re-use them.

ok Thats what I thought but last night when I tried to change a night on the DVC website I cancelled one night and tried to book a different one and only my regular points showed as available on my dashboard so I couldn't book the night I wanted . I was in a tiny bit of a panic lol. Called at 9 am and the CM I spoke with could see that I had both regular points and one time use but it still wasn't showing up on my dashboard. The CM seemed to think that they should have showed up online and I think I recall them showing up online in the past, but maybe not. Anyway I was able to book the night I wanted over the phone - thankfully it was still available!

Transferred points and OTU points do not show up for you to use online. There's an exception on the transferred - if it's one of your home resorts and same UY as you own then MS often addes them so that you can see them but otherwise they won't show up for you.

A similar experience is why I remember, LOL. Had many minutes of panic before a call made all things OK. :) I now think of this as the second disadvantage of OTU points - first is that they cannot be used until the 7 month window opens.
