Can I cancel Dining Plan?

We are going to Disney World April 15th. Everything is already paid for, including the dining plan. I'm not really sure we can or should do the dining anymore....can I get a refund for it? We had a sudden expense here at home and i just am not sure we can save all the additional money we need to save for the trip at this point (gas, hotel to stop at while driving, a little spending money at disney, tips). The plan was for my husband, me, our 5 year old daughter ....and then our 2 year old son is obviously eating off our plates. I originally added the plan out of convienance, but now it just seems like an insane amount of money to spend. I'm sure my children will not want to sit down for dinner all the time and they hardly ever eat anything when we are out. I know it would be nice for my husband and i, but really it can only be nice if i kids would enjoy it. We could do a couple character meals still for the magic of it all, but otherwise I feel like we need to figure sometging else out to save money.....I would rather our money go to extras than food. What are your thoughts? And would i be able to get a refund? Thank you!

if I were you, rather than asking people on these boards, I would immediately contact whomever you booked your package through...either Disney or the travel agent or whomever you booked through...they can advise if it can be cancelled and if there is any type of penalty involved (if there is a penalty to downgrade, the penalty might make it not worth your while to cancel the dining...)...good luck..

Actually I know the answer to this because I am looking at this same issue but with differant circumstances. You CAN get a refund from the Mouse (my plan is DiningPlus so it is the mid-way plan - 1 CS, 1 TS, 1 S per night at $53.54 for each adult). HOWEVER, you will have to forfeit a $50 charge for changing after final payment.

We paid everything in full when we booked. And we did the same dining plan as you. Ugh, I really didn't want to add the dining plan until last minute...I should have stuck with my gut there. I will probably keep it if i would lose 50 dollars. So silly.

I thought the $50 fee was only if you're withing 45 days. OP, you should call today.

By the way, we saved $600 over 9 days by not doing the dining plan. I can't say for sure that you would save that kind of money, but it's worth looking into.

The $50 fee is paid if you downgrade a package within 45 days of arrival. You're very close to that right now. If you really want to drop the plan you should call them today. It's not the day YOU pay in full, it's the day you're SUPPOSED to be paid in full, and a MYW package requires payment in full 45 days from arrival.
