Are Universal tickets like Disney tickets in that they don’t expire as long as I don’t start using them?

I’m considering purchasing some Universal tickets from Undercover tourist now to put away for fall 2018 if they would still be good.

Tickets do not expire so buy tickets now and don’t forget where you stored them

I’ve told this story many times but will repeat it again

About 2005 (?) multi day 2 park passes we’re sold

I had the ap which I renew yearly but I bought the same passes to use for my sons who would go with me to the darkside

I bought 3 sets of the 7 day P2P passes for $89 and 99
Bought the 5 day P2P passes also
(7 sets)

Some years they were $79, when prices rose they were upped in price

So with many sets of multi day park passes I was set for my kids to use
for years

Last January took adult son with me and gave him a five day pass to use

They no longer register in the system so sent to guest services

I had all the passes with me which turned out to be a good thing

I exchanged all the passes I had left into single day P2P tickets
They are marked complimentary tickets which means can’t be used to combine and upgrade to an ap

Ended up with 17 one day tickets

Four years ago I exchanged older 7 day passes into tickets
Those were marked as exp 2030, which means never expiring

(The coding on those passes were not in the system so did the exchange for them)

So buying extra tickets now for future use can be a good thing

Just do not forget where you keep them

Three years ago took a different son on vacation with me and it took two days before I remembered where I had them in my house

Thank you for that! We have done the same thing with Disney tickets, but I wanted to be sure the same would work for Universal. I know Dollywood’s tickets are only good for the calendar year in which they are purchased.

I’m using the last Disney tickets in September this year

I bought the 10 hopper non expire passes back in maybe 2008
Paid $538 for them and bought 5 sets

Used my ap but stopped renewing it 2011
Started to use those hoppers then

I ♥️ Saving $$

That’s quite a deal!

Fwiw, Disney tickets DO expire now. If you don’t use them by the exp date you get the value you paid towards buying new tickets. So they aren’t useless. But they aren’t the same as they used to be.

Uni hasn’t gone that route yet.

Interesting. I have 3 of the 7 day tickets that I bought around 2008 or 2009. I wonder if those would still be in the system. Did you get single day tickets for those too?

I had unused passes that were converted to present day tickets
None of them were ever used until I had them converted

That is how they were valid to be exchanged at guest services

The ones I had originally had an expiration of xxxx number of days after first use
I used those within the time frame that was listed on them

Just be careful with some promotional tickets since they do have expiry dates.

Definitely!

Ticket passes are structured different than how they were years ago

What is being sold now for the parks do have expiry dates for promotional tickets

Yes. I was wondering if the 7 day tickets were also converted to single day passes I wasn't clearly understanding if they were exchanged those for new 7 day tickets that worked in the current system or if they gave you single day tickets in exchange like they had done for your other tickets.

Since those old passes I had did not scan at the gate, had to be walked over to guest services

I did the change over of last set of those tickets last February

The only option they gave me was to issue me 7 single day hopper tickets for the 2 parks

Complimentary tickets is printed on them so they can not be applied to any other ticket pass or to be used to upgrade the ticket to an AP

UO no longer sells 7 day P2P tickets in the States

Thanks for the info! It actually adds more possibilities to those tickets so where I had been waiting for the appropriate trip it might now mean a change where they can be used over multiple trips. I shall have to bring them along the next time we go to Universal and see what they say.

Since my 5 day passes only cost $79
And the 7 day ones were $99, yes well worth for you to take them with you and exchange them for single 2 day P2P single day tickets

Good thing I bought them when they first came out many moons ago

With tax my 7 day tickets were $107.95 so maybe $101/ticket or might have been a small service charge on them. Crazy to look at that vs ticket prices today!

As long as you did not use any of those tickets on the 7 day pass, you’ll be able to get new P2P tickets

They would have been considered "used" after a certain amount of days if we had ever used any entitlements on them just like Disney does. I'd have to look and see but think it was probably up to 14 days to use them once after the very first use.

Some tickets do have a 14 day window

The ones I had did not but that was ages ago

Curious, how many days tickets do you recomend to see most of Universal Studios?

If this is the first time for you to visit both parks and city walk, I would suggest 3 days.
If crowds are low, this is enough time to see it all.

If you have been to the darkside before and know you will be avoiding certain places in the parks, 2 would work out fine.

I'm a repeat customer and I go 12 days in a row, but I spend more time in certain places in the parks.
I don't go early and take breaks in the day
I treat it as a time away from home and not a vacation where I plan every day out in advance.

If I choosed to sit in Central Park and just enjoy the surroundings, I can kill an hour of time easily.
Some days I take in the street entertainment and do an early dinner in the parks and spend the evening at City

Walk
