Can I buy Disney dollars at the good neighbor hotels?

You can only buy Disney Dollars in the parks and maybe the World of Disney store in downtown Disney. I guess it's possible you can still buy them at a gift shop in one of the Disney hotels, but I haven't tried for several years now and I know that they have tightened up and decreased the number of places where these are available for purchase so maybe not anymore.

When I was there about 2 weeks ago, I saw a CM at the Disneyland Hotel gift shop (Fantasia) with a ton of the Disney Dollars (only the $1 version so I'm guessing about 25-50 of them)

I am surprised that they still have Disney Dollars. With the availablility of Disney giftcards, I thought they would have gone the way of the sony walkman.

When I was there in October they did still have them at the Emporium and at the Gag Factory in Toontown. Granted, they were 2010 series, but if you were just buying them to use them, they are available. I collected them and upon talking with the CM have found out that they are discontinuing them in favor of the gift cards. Sad, but I was not surprised...

Parents use them so kids can have fun money to spend. People love to collect them. I have a few that have been tucked away for years - no intent on spending them.

Exactly, I was planning on giving them to our DD´s, I will try to make a run to one of the Disney hotels when we get there to see if they have them available.

I too have 1 of each from the 50th just because. I don't plan on using them. I just am surprised that DISNEY still makes them, but I guess they make money off them so why not.

- giggle - Especially if there are lots of us out there who buy them and NEVER spend them. I would imagine it's a great profit center for them - unredeemed Disney dollar.
