if they don't live in CA? I mean, if I wanted to buy this as a gift for someone, could I use the payment plan since I live in CA or would I not be able to since their address would be in another state?

I would say no on this one. I bought 4 passes for my family back in October and I put them all on my card because we thought one person purchasing the bunch would be easier. However, when we went to the park, they still wanted to see their CA ID's, aside from the little one.

I also got in a bit of a pickle because two of them I was just paying the down payments as b-day gifts and they said (before I purchased) that we could switch the monthly to the individual AP holders card by calling in via conference to the billing line. Not true actually, the person who initially pays is stuck with the contract until the end. I can switch cards of mine, but not to a card with a different person's name. So now, I get to have my mom and sister make payments to me each month until November, yay :)

Thanks so much for the answer, nicolispicoli!! Kind of a bummer about you getting stuck with the payments on your card--but thanks for the heads up! I could see myself getting into that same pickle.

Well, DizMe I'm not certain. It sounds like the PP didn't intend to pay for the WHOLE AP, just the down payment, and then got stuck making the payments because they were on her card. If you plan to buy an AP voucher online, does it give you the option to do the payment plan since it sounds like you plan to make this whole purchase as a gift? You'll know immediately on the website if you can or not. I'd think the person paying has to be the CA resident, and you are....so... I think you might be able to? Just go online as if you were buying the voucher option (and not the AP for yourself option) and see if they offer the payment plan for you.

I *think* it will let me make the purchase. I bought one in August for my DD, online, and there was no problem getting it on a payment plan. However, she does live in CA so I didn't worry about it. I do plan to buy it as a gift so the purchase would be made solely by me but I wasn't sure if there would be a problem when they went to convert the voucher into the pass. It seems like it would be ok, since I, the purchaser, am a CA resident, but I don't know for sure. Just wondered if anyone had been through this. Nicoli said that she did this very thing but the recipients still had to show CA IDs when getting the voucher converted to AP. That makes me nervous so I guess I will have to call and see what they say.

Thanks for weighing in!

I wonder if they got SoCal AP's or something that required them to ask for ID? If you're buying them as a gift, I don't see why they'd care anything about the people that receive them, ya know?

^^^That's my thinking too. It's a gift so why would it matter?

Of course I've never dealt with this and it's a very unique situation. I'd call Disney and ask.

Actually now that I think about it, I agree with Sonnyjane and Skiingfast. I am not sure why they checked id's at the time. Now I can only assume it actually had nothing to do with address and more to do with just making sure the names matched the vouchers from the info I put in online. Since it's the same AP price for everyone in other states and not a socal AP (ours weren't), I don't see why not as long as you don't mind paying it to the end, which is what I gather you already planned on doing.

I would just do it, they don't ask you at the gate anything about the payment plan. Sorry for the initial confusion, but now it makes sense to me. ;)
