Can I book ADR if I'm not in the dining party?

DS and his new bride will be going to WDW, and I don't think they are able to keep checking for ADRs. I think they are already too late for BOG, since I only found availability for 1 person for lunch on the day they are going.

Is it possible that, if I keep checking and something opens up, that I book it for them using my cc? Do I have to be there - I won't even be on the trip! - ?

I see 15 people have viewed this question but no one has answered. Is this one of those "no no" things to do? If it is, sorry. I don't want to be yelled at, I just want an honest answer.

Actually, I see that they aren't in my traveling party (I have a trip planned for DH and myself at another time) - so I guess this is a stupid question - right?

I was just being lazy and waiting for someone else to answer, if I'm being honest :)

It's no problem, anyone can make an ADR at anytime (at or inside 180 days of course). You don't have to have any other involvement in a WDW visit.

:goodvibes Thanks!

Ooops - editing to say that it looks like I have to add them to my traveling party, or I need to get their MDE sign in and make the reservation for them - right?

I don't think you need to do that. Just make an ADR for yourself for 2 people. They will just check in under your name at the restaurant. You don't have to put exact people on the ADR.

I don't see any problem with booking for them. They can just check in using your name. Or you could get their MDE so that they can see the reservation.

You might try booking the 1 person reservation - maybe there are two one-person ADRs available. If you can get two one-person reservations close together, they can just check in separately and head to the same table. We did this last month when DD and I had a reservation and someone decided to join us.

Anyone can make reservations once they are within 180 days so you can make it for them using your credit card. If you make it in your name they will just have to give your name when they check in. Also, remind them that your cc is attached to the reservation so if they change their mind and forget to cancel, you will be charged the $10 per person no show fee.
