It's not for us, it's for friends. We have our flights for December booked and paid already. They want to do a flydrive with Funway(????) but hire their own car, so I thought I'd check if it was allowed. Thanks for the advice

We have done this several times - though it has always been with Virgin and we have never had a problem. I can't honestly say if that would be the same through another company. If they are a smaller set up they may try to recoup some of the costs so be careful.
If you book through Virgin holidays you do not need to have the car. Although they say free car hire, they add a lot more money for car insurance. We always book our car separate it is cheaper. www.usrentacar.co.uk or www.airline-network.co.uk

I have found it cheaper this time to take VH's car and insurance. It has never been this way before, even if we took out our own insurance with airport charges it works out more expensive. Can't quite believe it!
