Can one drink too much water?????


In case you havent read my lost about scales the reason I am asking this question is because I went to the gym and got on the scale and was very disappointed.
I then spoke with the workers at curves and they asked what I am doing to lose and I told them. Part of what I am doing is drinking lots of water. They thought perhaps maybe too much!
I never liked water now I am used to drinking it and I actually crave it. My daily plan is 4 (24 oz) of water but I sometimes drink double that!
I simply cant help it. I am always thirsty and if I dont drink water, I will drink diet soda or diet snapple. Although, thats ok for dieting, as far as fat and carbs, I really do WANT to drink water.

So what do you guys think?
can I be drinking to much water?
Is there such a thing called water poisoning?
P.S. i dont consume alot of salt

If this is true what are my alternatives?

Yes, there really is such a thing as water poisoning. It happens more often in babies than adults but it is real. Your basic plan calls for 96 ounces of water per day and you say you sometimes drink double that???

Quite honestly, if you feel the need to drink more than 96 ounces a day i think you should visit your doctor. There might be an underlying reason you are thirsty all the time. I drink at least 64 ounces of water a day, but i do try not to go over 80. If only because I don't want to get up at all hours of the night. I also start my day with an 18ounce V8 and end it a few times a week with an 18 ounce glass of milk. Everything you drink has water in it to some extent.

I didn't realize that you could drink too much water. I had my Mom telling me at one point that she thought I was drinking too much. I wasn't drinking it because I was necessarily thristy, but just wanted to make sure that I was getting in enough water.

wiskband-I hope that you find your answer, maybe some searching on the internet will help and I agree that if you are feeling the need to drink that much, it might be a good time to visit the doctor.

I do have a few of those symtoms.....
And all along I thought it was a good thing!
Anyway I just finsihed my first bottle (24oz) of water and its 4:00.
So I can stretch this out.

I've always heard two different rules for how much water to drink.

One rule says you should drink a half ounce of water for every pound you weigh.

The other says 8 - 10 8 oz glasses of water a day which is 64 - 80 ounces.

Renee, I know you exercise a lot - usually twice a day, right? You may need more water if you are sweating a lot. I'd say cut your water to no more than 100 ounces a day for a week and see if you're feeling better and weighing less.

I'm drinking about 7-10 glasses a day,not couting 1 or 2 cokes as treats.Is that about right?
