Can I ask a philosophical question (not religious)?

Maybe I'm just crazy, but I'm finding out that some of the most evil, black-hearted people can be really nice. This scares me. Also, some of the nicest, sweetest people have a dark-side. Anyone else notice this with people in your daily life?

Whats that saying....You never know what lurks behind closed doors ;)
Thats what your post reminded me of. While I feel I "know" people, who really knows anyone (or how they'll react in a situation/circumstance?)
Just another of LIFES mysteries...:wizard:

We all have a dark side. It is part of being human. Most of us don't act on our worst impulses, though.

It just proves that no one person is all good or all bad. Even Ted Bundy worked at a Suicide hotline for awhile and talked people out of it. Shocking isn't it?

That's not just an observation. clinical studies and psychiatrist all over will tell you some of our most dangerous sociopaths appear as normal, great people.

I believe you just hit on part of the theme of Star Wars.

I have noticed this too. I think it's less that they are nice with a dark side but more that evil people have to be accomplished liars to get along with others. The more black hearted the person better the liar he/she has to be in order to get by. Kooky bad liars are outcasts on the fringe, it's the good liars that can do the most damage IMO.

As for run of the mill people with a dark side, we're all human and when something or someone hits a nerve whatever comes out is never pretty.... I think everyone has a dark side when provoked.

YEP LOL, but really you are right a lot of people you just never know and it could really shock you to find things out about them. Like me I am not a religious person and I have yet to tell my mom??? :rolleyes1

::yes:: There is a guy I knew from the time we were little and he was always nice to me. We never dated or anything, but were friends. I'd been in his car alone with him getting a ride somewhere or this or that. One day he pulled another boy off his bike and beat the heck out of him, to the point of putting him in the hospital. Then I found out he raped a girl I knew and hit another with a baseball bat. :sad2: Those girls were amazed that I'd been alone with him and he'd never done anything similar with me.

It was very hard to reconcile because he'd never been anything but calm, nice and respectful that I'd personally seen.

I moved away and haven't heard anything about him in years. I wonder which side has prevailed in his adult life.

These people are sociopaths. And the really good sociopaths come across as the nicest people you'll ever meet. They are social, friendly, and charming, smiling all the while they are doing some pretty horrific things.

These people are MUCH more scary than the evil people that turn out to be nice.

Some evil, dark-hearted appearing people really aren't what they appear. They just come off that way.
