Can I add the dining plan?

So we are already booked, leave in 17 days. I've been thinking about the dining plan, can I call and add it? We have a room only reservation if that makes a difference.

Also what are the hours to call? I tried calling today at like 630 PM and the office was closed? Thanks!

You'd be able to call 407-W-DISNEY (407-934-7639) to add the dining plan to your reservation, but I thought they were open later than that. You will need to call a few days before your arrival in order to add the plan to your reservation.

Unfortunatly that is not correct. You will have to rebook as a package and you must do this OUTSIDE of 72 hours prior to arrival. Which also means you will have to purchase tickets at the same time as the room and dining plan. You cannot purchase the plan separately. A package must also be paid in full 45 days prior to arrival so full payment will be due at the time when you do this. It takes some time and the agent may put you on hold while they complete the arrangements. A good agent will already know how to save your room rate and convert it right off the bat. This is especially true if you have a special offer that has either a) limited availability or b) is expired. As long as you are prepared to make those changes and spend a little time having the task completed you'll be set.

The only time a dining plan can be booked without tickets would be for Passholders and Military. These will have the package policy. Cast member's dining plans are booked like room only's. That'd be the only exception to the rule. Nearly two weeks to go! Hope you have a blast! :goodvibes

Confirming what the pp said. You must purchase a Magic Your Way Package which includes room and tickets to be able to add the DDP to your reservation, it must be added at least 72 hours before arrival and you will have to pay in full when you call to add it, as you are inside of your 45 day window.

Also, unless you paid on your room res by check, the funds you did pay will be refunded to you. And the full amount of the package will be due.
WDTC sells packages, dining or not. And room only bookings are not WDTC. That is why the difference.
This is also the main reason why it is just easier to book a package at the start if you think you will want a dining plan.

Ahhh bummer, thanks for the info though! We booked room only because my husband gets an airline crew discount, and then I bought tickets through undercover tourist. Oh well, maybe I will just put our dining money on a giftcard so it is like it's prepaid, which is why I wanted the DDP because it in theory wasn't going to save us money.

If all you wanted was prepayment, what you're doing now is possibly a much better choice than DDP. You can decide what to order and where (as long as it takes a Disney gift card, which means you're still excluded from the Swan/Dolphin restaurants and a couple of places in DTD) you can prepay alcoholic beverages if you want them, and if there is any left over, you don't lose it - you can use it for other Disney purchases.
