I just paid off my package the other day. We got 7 day base tickets for the 4 of us. Can we decide we want to hop while we are there and pay the extra to add it to our tickets? Also, dh has been saying he wants to do dtd disney stuff a few evenings without the kids. Is there a way to add the magic plus pack to our tickets only and leave the kids with just base tickets?

44 days to go!

Not positive about adding hopping or pluses once you arrive, but I know that its very easy to add these prior to your departure date.

I added plus after I arrived - was told by CM when I called before I left that it could only be changed once I got there. Go figure?

After the tickets are handed to yhou at check in they may be individually upgraded.

On ly one upgrade is permitted, so if you want to add hopping and non-expiration and/or more days, all have to be added at the same time.

You can actually upgrade at any time before you use the last day of your pass as long as they have not expired! I just did this the other day so i could see Epcot and MGM on the last day of my three day pass.

I have heard something about regardless of when you upgrade you still pay the original upgrade price of the whole ticket..like if its a 10 day ticket and you have 3 days left you still have to pay the upgrade amount as if its still a 10 day ticket?

That's true....we just did this yesterday after we checked out of OKW. We had bought the 7day/hopper/plus tickets. We only used 3 "plus" options and 4 park days. We upgraded to 10 day no expiration tickets and still paid the $100/ticket no expiration fee (not $35 for 3 days). It was only about $5/ticket to go from 7 to 10 days though!!!! This way was much cheaper in the long run since the original 7 day passes were almost $1000 for 4 of us! Now we have 6 park days and 2 plus options for only an additional $400.

You can add whatever options you want for up to 14 days after the first use of the tickets.

Hi can you clarify that this is only after the tix have been handed to you it can only be upgrade once? I bought and paid for my package with base tix but then a week later I upgraded to hoppers. I may want to add days also once we are down there. I should be able to, correct?

BTW, for anyone who bought a package with the Fall discount code that was released a few weeks ago, there is a discount on the tix. It only cost me $100 to add the hopping to 4 tix. The CM originally wanted to charge me $140 but then after applying the code it was only $100...

Adding options like non expiration and Water Parks and More is not "upgrading" in Disneyspeak. Upgrading is the act of applying purchase price price towards higher level ticket (such as an AP).

Not in my experience. We had 7 day base tickets no hopping and added the hopper option on day 3 of our vacation. We then ended up taking an unplanned non-park and water park day so we added the non expiring option on day 5.

According to the first CM at AKL on 10/7 you need to add the option before the expiration date (14 days IIRC?) and the cost is based on the total number of days on the ticket not the days remaining. So we paid based on 7 days not the days we had remaining. It was still a good deal as we have a few days left for our February post cruise visit.

There is a deadline for making changes to packages. Before that deadline, you can modify tickets to have more or less days and options and that does not count as your one add-on. All tickets for everybody in your party have to be modified to end up the same way.

Between the package deadline and check in I'm not sure whether tickets can be modified or how.

After check-in and the tickets are handed to you you can add but not delete options, each ticket can be added to differently, and I'm told each ticket has just one chance to be so upgraded*

*Have I been wrong for weeks? I was told that "upgrade" meant adding days in the sense of sixth day costing $3. since that is the difference in posted price between an all new 6 day pass and an all new 5 day pass; adding hopping costs $37. which is the same price posted at the ticket booth. I have used the term "trade-up" for applying the dollar value, prorated according to partial use, towards the purchase price of another ticket.

*Or is non-expiration the only thing you can add before departure if you already added something like hopping a few days prior? We'll need more input from others in the form of trip reports. Having used nothing but annual passes for the past several years I don't have any experience with Magic Your Way or recent Park Hopper Plus passes.

*Speaking of annual passes, trading up partially used passes towards them has a less favorable exchange rate compared with trading up MYW towards MYW.

.
so then if we have 6 adult 7 day expiring tickets at check in we can change just 2 to 10 day non expiring between check in and 14 days after we checkout, right?

ok forget to ask this...is the upgrade/add on days price at advance or gate prices? ie i think for the 6 day passes it's 198 advanced/205 gate so about 7 dollars a day different I guess

See GoldenOldie's explination of upgrading.

There's no limit to how many times you can add options. You can add hopping one day, and 3 days later, add the water parks fun and more option. Each time would be processed as an upgrade as long as you're within the first 14 days of use of the ticket. If you're 15 days or more after first use, this can only be done if the non-expiration option was on your ticket. And then, you'd be getting a dollar credit - not upgrading.

Price of add-ons is the price difference between what you have versus what you want using gate prices. The result is that you pay the same amount to upgrade regardless of whether you bought the original pass in advance or at the gate. The result is that you keep whatever advance purchase discount you already realized.

Example: Adding hopping will cost you $37. Adding the seventh day to a 6 day expiring pass will cost $3. (2005 prices).
