Can I Add Days To An Old Ticket?

I've read numerous threads where folks are able to add additional days onto an existing ticket and pay the difference. I have a 3 day park hopper w/ no expiration 2006 that I'd like to add days to. The 3 day ticket is really a waste at this point as I would never go to the parks for 3 days and adding an additional 3 day ticket is pricey. I contacted Disney Guest Services who said I could not add days to the ticket and it could not be split amongst the 3 ppl in my family. What are my options?

Is it a magic your way ticket? Has it ever been used (partially) or is it totally fresh?

We have some non-expires in our MDE with just a few days left on them. For longer trips, it is more cost effective to simply buy a length-of-stay ticket and save the non-expires for a trip during which you don't have to add more tickets (for example, a long-weekend trip as opposed to a week-long trip). In your case, if you need 6 days of park tickets, it is, most likely, more cost effective to purchase a 6-day ticket and save the three non-expires for another time. If your ticket is completely unused though, I'm not really sure what the answer is here as Disney stopped selling these years ago. I'm just describing a scenario in the case of partially used tickets which cannot be upgraded after 14 days of first use.

If a very old ticket is still unused, it can be "traded in" (at its original value at the time it was purchased) toward
a new current ticket.

That would be a very poor plan, however, as simply USING the old ticket at the park gate would
yield MUCH more value to the guest than it's original purchase price.

(However, if a guest was going to use that old ticket as only one or two "days"
with of tickets during a WDW trip when the guest also wanted to spend, say, 4-5 or more ADDITIONAL "days" of tickets, that could render the use of the old tickets on that trip
a "waste of value.")

Using more than one individual ticket during a longer (over 4-5 days) trip
is generally unwise, financially.

It is a park hopper w/ no expiration date that was originally 7 days and down to 3 days. I am from Jersey so I typically do 5-7 day tickets. Given I cannot add days to it, split it up, etc. there's little value for me as adding additional days from a 5 day ticket are cheaper meaning that I am losing the original value if I bought a 4 day ticket and used this 3 day ticket for a total of 7 days. Disney is very smart...

Yes, exactly. My DH has had 3 days of non-expires in his account for some time now but typically goes for a full week and not a long weekend, so those 3 days of tickets simply remain there for that elusive long weekend we have yet to plan! For our trip in December, I have already bought him a six day ticket. Once I did the math, I couldn't stomach the 3-day ticket to supplement the non-expires. I know SOMEDAY he'll use those three days!

I miss the no-expiration tickets. I have 4 and 5 days remaining on no-expiration tickets. I'm fortunate in my SIL is in the military so DD buys military tickets. The last trip we were there 5 days but at that time you could only purchase 4 day military tickets so we each used one of our no-expiration days. This trip DD bought 5 day military tickets but she isn't coming until day two so I can use one no-expiration day for the day prior to DD's arrival. In my case the no-expiration tickets are great, but I can understand your frustration.

I have 6 one day passes that were leftover from previous No expire tickets on my acct..... When I brought the old tix in to create new RFID passes, I just assigned them all to me (I wish I hadn't now lol) they asked me whose name I wanted them on in MDE so I picked my own:cool1: So for now I'm hanging onto them to use up slowly for shorter future trips....it seems weird to have those while using a 5 day ticket for a longer trip, but I figure over time it'll make sense. (I think I need to be hyper aware of which ticket is prioritized on a trip tho which is kind of a pain)

You can transfer any of those "new" (never-used) tickets to anyone else that you'd like.
It is only partially-used tickets that cannot be transferred.

I don't have a transfer option on my mde.... they all (6) says nontransferable-would I have to call to try doing this? or in person? It was from a handful of leftover days on various passes that were NE- so I just assumed once I assigned them in my name that was it for changes. (argggg)

Ah.
Then, these don't fit under the category of "never-used tickets."

Once a ticket has begun to be used, it (any of its remaining assets) cannot be transferred.

Oh yes....I obviously wrote that wrong..... The tickets were just scattered leftovers from various older NE tickets,so I guess once put in MDE in my name they are 'used'(well they were by someone in the fam so I guess that's correct)

This is very confusing.

Whether they were put in someone's NAME does not affect the transferability of a ticket.
What matters is whether any part of a ticket was USED at one time, or not.
You say "scattered leftovers..."

If you mean you have, say, 2 days "leftover" from a (say) 7-day non-expiring ticket.
That would mean that the original ticket had been used (in my example, 5 of the days on the original ticket had been previously used)
and, therefore, none of the remaining days could be transferred to another guest, as they are part
of an older ticket that had been partially used.

OTOH, if you mean "leftover" NEVER USED AT ALL non-expiring tickets, purchased in the past...
those never-used tickets can be transferred.

We had one park hopper and 2 water park tickets left from our first visit in 2003. Had a long talk with GS and finally managed to add the 1 day PH to DH's upcoming trip giving him a total of 5 day PH. Problem is nobody can figure out how to link them for fast passes. Multiple calls to Disney. Lost out on a lot of FP availability. At this point after so many calls I'll wait until I get there to solve the problem. Guest services hands out Fast passes like chicklets. 8 calls and no solutions.

Sorry Robo...yes I meant leftover as in a couple of days left on each old previously used pass. That's why (I guess) they're now non transferable, and in my name.

Agreed.

Thanks everyone. A quick follow up. I am going to buy an additional park hopper and use them all up in a single visit. Because the NEW park hopper won't have the same # of days as the other people in my party, how will I use the Fast Pass + option for the 'old' ticket?

You need to add the old ticket to your MyDisneyExperience account so that you can then make advance FP+
using that ticket.
If you cannot add that ticket to your MDX by adding its number to the "tickets" section of your account,
you need to call Disney and ask for their help.

Call WDW Ticketing at
(407) 566-4985 (option 5)
Hours: 8:30am-4:30pm ET Mon-Sat

They may or may not be able to help you until you arrive with the ticket.
That's just one of the problems they created with MDX and advance FP+.
