I, like many other people used to have a flat tummy. Now 2 children later, it's not so flat. I'm doing Atkins, working out 3-5 times a week and incorporate some ab crunches into my workout. Can I really expect to have a flat tummy again or am I just dreaming?

I say you can do anything you put your mind to!! :) That is my philosophy on anything! LOL

I am sure you will have a flat tummy, we all have faith in you!! You can do it!! :)

In 2002 after I had my first DD (1998) I lost 70 lbs, and had an almost completely flat tummy (I had a tiny little lip right at my C-section line, but I think that would have gone away too with a little more work, in fact it wasn't at all noticeable and I was quite happy with it. I plan to have that flat tummy again soon (have had DD#2 since then), (preferably before suimsuit weather) so keep up the good work and I'm sure you'll have the flatest tummy in town! Everything is possible!!!!

The thing with ABS are that you can have a firm 6-pack underneat the fat, but until you loose the fat they will never come through. You can't spot reduce the fat on your stomach, so you have to do cardio and eat less to get rid of the fat. In the meantime, you can definately get those abs in shape. I was read from one of the ladies who leads the FIRM video's that you can do 10 minutes of abs each day without worrying about overtraining those muscles. Find a few 10 minute ab routines that work different muscles and do those for 10 minutes each day. I know the FIRM has a few AB video's. The one I am looking at has 3 10 minute ab workouts. There is also an older one, before the infomercials that is called 5 day abs.

I sure hope that someday I can have good abs. I did a 30 minute cardio today, and then did the end of another one of my dvd's that had ab work included. I hope I don't end up with stretched skin. Maybe doing the ab work will help.

Good luck, you can do it. Maybe we should start a daily 10 minute Ab challenge! Those challenge/check in's really work.

Good luck! You can do it!

gshoemate: I noticed since doing Atkins, my belly "pouch" went away after the first 25 pounds! I also noticed it come back a little when I was "indulging" in sweets and carbs between Christmas and New Years.
Keep on your plan, and be sure to exercise off the layer of fat MelanieC is talking about!
Anything is possible!!::yes::

I would one day love to have a flat stomach. Never had one before. Since I have started this new workout (elliptical machine and circuit weights) I have also incorporated an ab workout that I found on line at http://www.netfit.co.uk/abdominals-web-site.htm
This website also has some other great workouts.

Good Luck!

getting flat abs is hard...i just had my first child and i'm still working on slimming!!!

definitely have to trim the layer of fat over the muscle like melaniec said (i think::) ) but also...a very amazing ab workout is Pilates. i don't know if you have any access to pilates exercises, but they are wonderful. i am a fitness instructor and have done all the crunches invented. pilates strengthens the entire core ( full abdomen) and creates lean muscle. now...i don't have flat abs yet, but i keep trying to incorporate pilates moves into my ab workouts! they are the hardest i have found!!!
look online or in fitness magazines. if you want some ideas i can send you some!!!

good luck!!!!! i'm hoping to have presentable abs by summer!!!! so i'm hoping its still possible af ter having little ones!!!!

Try the Pilates. I've been doing pilates for nearly 3 months now and it is consistently reducing my pooch and I'm sure that as long as i keep at it i will eventually have a much flatter tummy. What's even better about Pilates is that even though the exercises aren't easy, they don't kill you the next day. You might wanna try it.

I have been doing Pilates for a couple of weeks and I really think I am going to like it. My legs and stomach have been big for so many years now I don't feel like I will ever get them down. In fact after trying on a bathing suit, I feel so fat.

Should I do Pilates everyday for it to work or everyother day? How long will it take me to notice a difference?

Thanks for any help.

Kathy
