Can / have you done this with an annual pass renewal?

I have an unused re-assignable 4-day park hopper in my Disney Experience account. I currently also have a DVC Gold Pass. I would like to apply this park hopper toward the cost of the renewal of my pass. Since the annual pass renewal costs more than the 4-day park hopper, is there a reason that I shouldn't be able to do this? Or do they only let you apply the cost to another pass. Can you "upgrade" to a renewal?
 
I don't see why not. Perhaps someone else has better knowledge, but they are pretty good at accommodating upgrades.

We were able to use the value of our FD tickets toward the cost our renewals at the end of 2017. It was very easy. However, I’ve read some haven’t been successful lately. I don’t understand why. Hopefully it’s still allowed.
 
It's been done. You'll need to do it in person, on site, at Guest Services.
 

I had a 4 day pass, it was part of a package from a group trip. I tried to use it toward the purchase of an annual pass. Was told by a number of different employees (repeatedly) that the 4 day pass was purchased at a special discounted rate and thus, could NOT be used toward the purchase of an annual pass. Sooo frustrating

Certain passes, like convention tickets, cannot be upgraded. That has always been the case.
 
I used UT discounted tix purchased specifically to renew/downgrade back to Gold on my APH in august of ‘18

Handled inside GS @ MK. Supervisor insisted they couldn’t bridge the tix price for renewals. Was told if I was purchasing a new APH, then they could. :confused3

In general, bridging is a nice loophole, would hate to see that shut down completely.
 
I bought a 10 day PH earlier in the year and then decided to make it an annual pass instead due to additional trips popping up. I was still in the renewal window. I called and asked MS who told me to call ticketing who told me to call MS. We ended up on a three way call so that MS could confirm for ticketing that I was in fact a member and eligible for a Gold Pass.

In the end, it was accomplished. It wasn’t simple at all. 10 day PH was upgraded to a Gold Pass renewal.

All was done over the phone except of course activation in person with DVC card.
